Feels like Villa, Leeds, Wolves and maybe even Everton are on the slide now with their results worsening and their managers either sacked or under pressure. For the first time this season im seeing sides who, if we can somehow improve our performances, you might be able to argue we could eclipse. Even though we're bottom, our performances are improving. If we can just stay with them we might be able to put something together after the world cup.

Bournemouth maybe but I feel Southampton probably have enough about them to keep themselves out of a fight. Brighton no chance. Cant see them capitulating.

We've played Wolves, Villa, Everton and Leicester and none of them were hugely impressive. And they're now feeling the pressure as their results slide. If somehow Cooper can keep us improving and we get something going we might be able to at least put in a bit of a scrap for 17th. We just need to keep our nerve and stick with them over these next two games which will inevitably return no points. Then just 1 win puts us right back in it.

Its amazing what a few organised performances can make to confidence levels and a club's outlook. This is why I was so vocal in my criticism of Cooper's approach up to and including the Leicester game. We were too open, the players looked undisciplined and lost and we were too easy to beat. It was nothing to do with unfamiliarity of new players imo. It was poor coaching. But to his credit he's gone back to basics and concentrated on tightening up. Its not easy or enjoyable to watch but it was desperately needed. Cook and Yates have gone from lower league cloggers to warriors and Aurier is adding a little bit of quality and composure at the back. All 3 look like shoe ins in the starting 11 along with mr consistent McKenna. Hopefully Cooper will now be working out how he can get Frueler on the ball more and linking up the front players. At last we're seeing something.

If Cooper does keep his job it will be because he's had the balls to swallow his pride and change things. Gerrard has paid the price because it was the same old thing week on week. Anyway, Gerrard is not a top drawer coach anyway. Same as Lampard. Both quality players but will never be top coaches. Wonder where Gerrard will end up now. Cant see him getting a prem club and cant imagine he'll want to drop down a level.

Definitely true and as you said in earlier comments, there are green shoots of change in the right direction.

And your evidence that Benitez or, more likely, some foreign coach you’ve never heard of will keep us up or stick around to get us back up, is where exactly?

The only one I would have some confidence in is Dyche assuming he is still available if and when we change manager but even then I would prefer to stick with what we have.

Still think its a long shot we stay up whoever is our manager but should we stay up with Cooper (hopefully with a last day win) I reckon it would feel as good as Wembley.

It just feels like it would be one of things that 'is written' Vs all the clubs changing their managers. As long as we're still in the mix with a quarter of the season to go....
