Evangelos Marinakis And Co
Also- communications at the club are crap. Well documented in a recent article. Percy obviously has been used to gauge opinion on cooper going and being replaced by Benitez which went down like a lead ballon. Or it could be a stroke of genius to get everyone on board in support of cooper. I’ve never felt more like giving a manager time than now. He has earned it.

I think he would be a good appointment Widdow.

He was at Watford for a long time I think about 7 years of which 5 or 6 were in the PL. In other words Watford stayed in the PL all that time under his guidance and then went down after he left.

Sounds like it's Dane out, and Charnely up to ceo. And the recruitment model out in favour of a sporting director looking at players. At least there'll be someone in the club that knows the prem.

Told you.

And I told you :giggle:

We all absolutely sure we want Charnley as CEO? Have a look at the Newcastle forums if you want an opinion. Careful what you wish for as always.

I'm past caring about the backroom appointments. No one cares about them when we're winning.

I'm backing whichever 11 on on the pitch and Cooper.

Not a great result for Oly today either. 0-3 home defeat against Qarabag.

That sounds bad for whoever the coach is now over there.

Think Sniff said it's Michel again.

Percy says Dane Murphy likely to stay now.

Credit where it is due, I'd have been livid with the ownership had they binned Dane and Coops so keeping them and rewarding Cooper with a deserved new contract despite the poor start is the greatest show of confidence Cooper could've asked for. It was a big decision for Marinakis because it could well have defined the type of club we're gonna be for the next decade, we could've gone down the Watford sort of route, changing from manager to manager and style to style on a whim and never having anything to ever truly support or we can go down this route keep the identity that got us up and hopefully it'll bear fruit soon and for years to come. Keep backing them EM, other clubs in the Premier League will envy us having them two before long.

Yep, I'm no Marinakis cheerleader, I judge his ownership based on what I see, good and bad, but this is a massive play by the guy and should be lauded if it comes off for him. I can only assume that the big man's taken some advice from those within the club and been persuaded to hold his nerve. It will give the entire club and fanbase a shot in the arm.

Very interesting long read about Marinakis by Dan Taylor on The Athletic.

It’s a long old read.

Doesn’t paint the best picture of stability within the club, although has clearly been written with some sort of an agenda.

Would maybe be a good time for some positive noises and statements from key individuals at the club IMHO.
