Without wishing to sound mean I think it's the right decision. We can't just be giving jobs to the boys for the sake of it. NFFC is not a charity. Frank will always be welcome at the City Ground and nobody has turned their back on him. Realise my comments won't be popular but tough shit :D

He should be on our board imo.

Forest's finances have to be lean and mean. Value and performance driven.
That's the new direction. Results based. From the playing staff, coaching through to board level, I should imagine. That will all filter through to what's happening on the pitch. It's trimming the fat. Witness the meat cleaver taken to the squad in the Summer. SA.

I like Frank but the club don't owe him a living. He's almost 80 years old and I am sure he has a nice tidy pension. He's also a Newcastle fan and on the front of his newish autobiography he chose a picture of himself in a Newcastle shirt not a Forest one who were paying him at the time.
Not having a pop like I said earlier he will always be welcome at the CG and he will always be a European Cup Winner and therefore a legend.

I suspect if this news had happened last season this forum's reaction would be a lot different.

I wonder if Frank was feeding DT and he paid the price...

Probably more likely he was on a fair slab of wedge and it was considered he didn't actually add value. Reading about the sheep's shenanigans over the last few weeks, I've been wondering of late how bad the day to day finances are at our club. I know we have an owner who will write a cheque every month, but I'd imagine things are pretty tight financially.

Things are tight and to be honest there is some penny pinching going on right now.

The last year and half has been a bite of reality sandwich for football apart from the 'fantasy' finances of clubs like Man City. Derby, Reading and a few others have been treading precariously. But other clubs like Luton and Coventry show that things can be done on less? The more integration Forest have with their Academy the better from here on in. That and superior recruitment. (The latter of which has been a long time coming.) Paying lots of players good money not to play must have crazy and excruciating to someone like Dane coming in from the outside. That's where your money for another striker is. Sat' in the stands with players who will never feature. We couldn't keep going on like that. Ergo: the clear out. Change is painful. But this is part of the road Forest need to take. SA. |
