Unfortunately, the hangover turned into more of a drink induced coma and carried well on into the season and it was clear all confidence had gone. Combined with hefty spending on "quick-fix" players and our short gains quickly dissipated.

Point I'm making is: I think for the past few seasons we've only really had, at best, a mid-table squad to work with. They massively exceeded expectations under Lamouchi and in turn it seems CH is doing a poor job (he isn't, but I definitely agree the quality of football is poor and he needs to improve on several formations/way of playing)

Spot on mate. I always though Lamouchi was getting us punching, and when we signed Bong, Diakhaby and Da Costa it felt like season over there &then to me. We'd already had warning shots like with Wigan how poor our depth was, and our first 11 was hugely dependent on everyone being fit & firing.

The question I ask is "would any of these players get in any other of the top 6 sides first 11?" Looking at our current side, I think Worrall and Zinky are the only players who'd get a look-in.

The only genuine top 6 permanent signing we've made since EM took over are Grabban and Lolley IMO. They have carried us loads, and now they are nackard we are too.

Criminal that we spent 20m on players who probably wouldn't even get in another Championship mid-table side, never mind a top 6 one (Carvalho, Da Costa, Soudani, Jenks)

And Sow. :)

He made Grabban and Lolley top 6.  They weren't top 6 without him.

Money.  Forest have certainly had money and thrown money at it.  And we know how that turned out.  It's how you spent what you have.

I suspect Johnson would get in top 6 sides too (and Garner now too probably) McKenna maybe?

Just a word on Silva and the comments re this being a Vrentzos signing.

Apparently this was very much a Chris Brass recommendation. He tried to sign him on loan at Wigan a couple of years ago and was very keen on us getting him in.

Which is further evidence that the 'Plan B Assembled Recruitment Team' ™ is simply that.

A team.  I'm guessing that team is? Compromising CEO, Mr. V (he's allowed to help being a director?), Hughton, Gary, Chris and others all the way to the scouts as well..?  And that the window was, indeed, a team effort.  This is good news.  Because it will take all pulling in one direction to get Forest out of the Championship.  The Summer window (in the end) shows a 'healthy start' to life in Plan B for Forest.  Much healthier financially and a team that is leaner and meaner than last year's squad (on paper.)

I was wondering about Chris Brass and his input.

Thanks for the info', Reds73.

I saw where the original story came from.

Like many of you say when you criticise my comments, i'll reserve judgement.

Like I said though, a positive rumour is met with supposed fact.  A negative one is not.

I understand why, people want to believe the good stuff and not the negative.

Not saying it’s not true... I hope it is... but if so why wasn’t it done earlier?

Wet spam didn’t want him and would have let him go any time.

Why did we only go for him when all other options had failed?

I know it’s annoying but I’m very sceptical at the moment I have tried taking a break for a few days from all forest related. Think I need the football to start again so we know either way about the new signings.
