So the average of people who voted is 7 out of 10.
Most are fairly satisfied then.

Let’s be honest, this window was all about getting rid, not getting a promotion winning side in, per se.
In that regard it’s as good as we could have expected though even my ten year old can see we missed out glaringly on a striker. Andy carrol on a pay as you play please. He’s an utter idiot but the best header of a ball in the country.

So above average to good (for a Forest window) for 2/3rds of the votes on this forum. With the '7' edging ahead with some beginning to release the Herculean effort to cut costs (given the last year or so's context with no money from fans coming in, as such) and improve the squad from 'below average' to 'above average.' It's progress with more room to slash costs next Summer, become sustainable (after high wages turn over for years with money for old rope...) and free even more money up to become progressive ie build further next January (striker perhaps?) and further still next Summer. It's a big ask to go from bottom 8 to top 8 all in one go give the weight of the baggage the inefficient and imbalanced squad Forest had. Lots of hangers on who performed bottom 8 or weren't on the pitch at all or ever going to be. No Championship club can keep that up. If we can get mid-table with an outside tilt at the play offs... Ie. We're shifting gears. Transition. Andy used to be hot property. What happened? To old? Injuries? SA.

Lamouchi had an amazing run the season before last however, I feel it has given some of us delusions of grandeur (myself included?) they overperformed as a squad for 85% of the season and then played like rank amateurs for the final games.
Unfortunately, the hangover turned into more of a drink induced coma and carried well on into the season and it was clear all confidence had gone. Combined with hefty spending on "quick-fix" players and our short gains quickly dissipated. Point I'm making is: I think for the past few seasons we've only really had, at best, a mid-table squad to work with. They massively exceeded expectations under Lamouchi and in turn it seems CH is doing a poor job (he isn't, but I definitely agree the quality of football is poor and he needs to improve on several formations/way of playing)

5. We have players but to how good they are, who knows.
After last season (arter for one) I’ll never comment on a player until Iv seen him play regularly live for Forest.

Yep. Spot on. Hughton. Will get no thanks for mopping up. He's the reason Forest stayed up last season. With not one permanent out field player of his own. He was using pretty much what he was given until January. Sabri was lucky he had Sow. (And the out perform on Lolly and Grabban who have been mere shadows since.). We twice strayed into the play offs. Both times he was fit. SA.

Spot on mate. I always though Lamouchi was getting us punching, and when we signed Bong, Diakhaby and Da Costa it felt like season over there &then to me. We'd already had warning shots like with Wigan how poor our depth was, and our first 11 was hugely dependent on everyone being fit & firing. The question I ask is "would any of these players get in any other of the top 6 sides first 11?" Looking at our current side, I think Worrall and Zinky are the only players who'd get a look-in. The only genuine top 6 permanent signing we've made since EM took over are Grabban and Lolley IMO. They have carried us loads, and now they are nackard we are too. Criminal that we spent 20m on players who probably wouldn't even get in another Championship mid-table side, never mind a top 6 one (Carvalho, Da Costa, Soudani, Jenks)

The mean average score is 5.81, dragged down by some less impressed forum members!
Possibly a bit harsh but maybe they just need to be won around. Maybe we could redo this in Dec once we've seen someone of these new superstars play

But I can understand the cynicism until it translates onto the pitch. We won't know the true scores until they perform for a period of time and hopefully gel tougher and that takes time. It doesn't just happen over 4 games and half a pre-season with little transfer work. eg. until December. (The parameters of half of seasons allow for the team to gel up to December and then push on in the 2nd half of the season with course correction in January if necessary.) SA. |
