Hughton's one of many managers who's been royally shafted by the club. He's not signed 1 permanent outfield player since taking over the club in 22nd, and you can't build a side around odd loans here and there.
But that doesn't excuse the fact that his defensive methods, and over-reliance on experience do not fit this squad.
I think whoever inherits this squad has a hell of a job on keeping it up, but if Murphy wants to ring wholesale changes we may as well start now. Even if we go down to L1 our long term future has a chance if we get the right manager working with the young guns coming through.
Vrentroz has damaged the squad balance so much in recent years it's ridiculous.

I think if we want to avoid league 1 we have to act soon, the longer this clown has to destroy any confidence there is left in this squad the worse it will be.

Regardless of the personnel, he’s had enough time to engrave his DNA over the squad and tactics.
Where’s the progress?
What has improved?
Do we sign a 20 goal a season striker and improve because of the player or is it because the manager has the right foundation in place but just not the personnel?

Let’s take Neil Warnock, for example. Would this squad be in the same position with Warnock in charge?
Would we have limped to safety last season with nearly 40 odd games still to play and called it a success?

Warnock would have got more out of them maybe. He would never accepted the dross that we landed ourselves with last season to begin with. But considering the position we are currently in with the squad as it os I dont believe any manger would be doing much better.

I also don’t think Warnock would have tossed away the cash we did on Knockaert and Murray

Short term signings are a problem. Loans are short term and givenus the same issues all over again the next summer. Our best player tonight was a loan and will not be here. We will have wasted a year on his wages and developing him to be left with nothing next summer.
Loans are OK to fill in the squad once main business had been done. We have t done any business.
Derby are a mess and they make us look bad.

I'm starting to think with this squad and current injuries/suspensions, Brian Clough rising up from the grave would struggle to have us in a better position.
Obviously, I am exaggerating as Cloughie would have us sitting on top of Europe in 5 years, but you know what I mean. Alfs post above is on the mark.
Confidence though is ebbing away.

He hasn't got a clue and I really hope that they end this immediately, he has to go and I cannot say I'm sorry but why on earth should we stick with him at the helm, he is totally out of his depth and will never be able to turn it around, better for all concerned that they call him a taxi in the morning.

That's not true zico. Last year Barnsley were a worse squad than us, getting beat week in, week out, murphy brought in a unknown guy, got them playing good attacking football, and look where they finished, some called it over achieving, even tho this achieving football has wba playing out of there skin for him, I trust murpy to find use someone like him, to at least get us believing in the game again, fingers crossed we sort this sooner than later

Im not sure Murphy even selected their manager. They were/are part of a larger group of clubs that their owners run. It would well be that their owners chose him.
