There is always a caveat when Danny reports good news.
I wonder if this claim is any more accurate than the guff he wrote earlier today about Cat 1

What guff did he write about the academy? He said the site was cramped and that we could do with a new training ground but thats hardly a revelation. Also said it was a shame the Cat 1 success didnt get more media coverage. Everything else was positive about it.
Usual stuff about Vrentzos but nothing new other than the recruitment company looking for candidates but he did say that was unverified. No clarity on Vrentzos position if he is staying in a reduced capacity.
A fair bit of comment on Carvalho and a little dig at Knockaert at the end which certainly suggested we wont be in a rush to bring him back.

And it was fair to say, the Academy has done well, helped us with FFP and great finally got provisional Cat 1 status, but we are playing catch up on many clubs, including those around us.

The dig he had about not applying for Cat 1 status before now; this is effectively the first opportunity they have had to apply.
It was vitally important that we did get it this time around; if we had missed out it would be 2024 before we got the next crack at it.
What did he say about Knockheart?

Re Knockaert, when asked about disappointing signings Taylor said, “Knockaert rubbed up quite a few people behind the scenes too. It's very clear why, for all his occasional talent, he has never really been trusted by a PL club.”

From Twitter:
Gerasimos Manolidis

PAOK announce today the agreement with Razvan Lucescu who returns after 2 years spell in Arabia. Greek reports claim that the Romanian coach was among @NFFC are not true. #paokfc #Lucescu #NFFC #PAOK

What did he say about Knockheart?
So would this have been the first opportunity that we've had since Marinakis took over?
Tbf he is referring to a time pre Marinakis when the other clubs went Cat 1. Probably more of a criticism of the previous administration and the state the club was in than the current one. Although he does say "the club has realised 4 years in that they can't operate at cat2", which is probably a bit harsh, probably realised that a bit sooner than last week...
Was a throw away comment though in an otherwise praising section

Yes it was the first opportunity.
The Club realised way before four years in that they could not operate at Cat 2 level but it was too late to start planning in 2017 when they took over as the next application date was 2018.
There has been a lot of focus on finding a new location but most of the available sites are now going for housing.

Be great to see the proof this was the first time since 2017 they could have applied, (as the next application date came too early in 2018 from when they took over)?
Why couldn’t they apply in 2019?
Are you saying you can only apply every 3 years then, or is it every 2 years ?

It is every 3 years.
I did post the rules a while ago - I will dig them out and post them again.
The preparation work takes over a season; the auditors visit the respective Academy's on numerous occasions, monitoring progress and making recommendations.
