Ryan Yates

People get an hard on over Yates because he came through our academy(he’s nearly 24), if we’d signed him from an another club then people wouldn’t be so arsed and see him for what he actually is…a below mediocre championship midfielder.

Just goes to show some people struggle to see beyond the fancy stuff.

No excuse and I'm not having, "he's not the same player...". He's in a better side and doing the job the manager has asked him to do' like he always has  but if some people had have had their way he would never have had a chance to develop the way he has. 

Next season, watch out for Mighten stepping up. He may do it elsewhere first (as Jonno did)  but this lad will be another star. Everyone should get behind him whilst he learns his trade.

GreenMan and Madforit definitely have egg on their faces but will they both be man enough to admit they they were wrong?

That performance from Yates last night was one of the best midfield performances by a Forest player for ages. It had everything, absolutely everything. Roy Keane would have lauded that performance if he had witnessed it.

Hopefully sir Roy will be in attendance at the Liverpool game for ITV, rather than the reserves that they fielded last night. Really poor coverage by ITV. I was expecially disappointed at the lack of atmosphere the broadcast picked up. Sounded flat on the box and the commentators were less than exciting.

If I took the stick he took at one extended point, then got the plaudits he is now getting at work. I'd be off in a shot at 1st sign of a better offer. (Except if I was working at NFFC of course). 

I still maintain though that it was a small minority of very "vocal," keyboard warriors. Apart from when whole ground was toxic at start of season- then they all copped it.

Hopefully Ryan is feeling the love across the board now.

There's a difference between criticism or discussion on a forum and actively booing his appearance on the field. 

Personally, I felt he had too many weaknesses and had a lot to coach out of him. I think there were plenty of times where he struggled to hold down a place in the team and the debate over whether he played was fair.

He was/is a frustrating player that looks like he really could be a top player and his heading ability had also been wasted until recently. How often have we all said how many headed goals he could/should have scored in the last few years.

He's clearly stepped up a level this year (as have all really under Cooper) and has cut down on some of the most frustrating aspects of his game. If he continues in that manner then he will be class for us in the next few years.

Awesome performance again from Ryan,
I have been one of his biggest fans all along and now even my doubting friends are being won around with his dominating displays hopefully he signs a deserved new contract soon

I think players like yates can take a bit longer to reach maturity as a player but that every manager over the last four years has felt it necessary to include him has shown his willingness. 

I've never understood the criticism of yates. From what i've seen he's always given his all and gave a damn. But just like it took worrall some time to mature, then Yates is similar. 

I would say that while johnson's been getting all the media plaudits, i would say Yates has probably been the best player during our FA cup run and just like so many of this squad, has gone from strength to strength under cooper. 

And i would say that regardless of what happens this season in terms of promotion or summer sales, if we keep hold of cooper then we will go up.

Not even Madforit would doubt his effort and commitment. His energy has always been a huge strength however in previous years he hasn't harnessed it well. Often in the wrong position and not a great pass rate for a DM. No denying he's improved on those things this year though.
