Midtjylland - Nottingham Forest
Yes I thought Hutch and Mcatee linked up well.

That is McAtee's best position where he played last night and it showed.

A luxury that he was not afforded by previous managers.

Think its a bit early to jump on the I told you so bandwagon. We are all delighted about last night but there have been multiple false dawns this season. Brilliant that there does appear to be potential in some of the squad who have failed to grasp previous opportunities.
As correctly stated it takes time to settle into a new club and new country for some of them, lets hope they build from here, its in their hands to deliver consistently now.

Surely that works both ways?

In other words people writing players off as being crap befire they have been given a proper and fair chance.

Great all round performance 'cept one

Bit harsh on Lucca mate. He had a perfectly adequate game. He wasn't brilliant, but he certainly wasnt gash. And he stayed on for 120mins, leaving Jesus totally fresh for Spurs.

Yep maybe so but I didn't see much there to get excited about. Bakwa however had his best game for us and his corner kicks were better than anything we've seen this season. McAtee was impressive also. Thought the starting 11 were very good and gave a good account and the subs detracted a little from how the game was going.

Agreed , Lucca just looks clumsy , not physically strong enough , poor control , doesn't win enough in the air for his size and has poor positional sense . Few nice flicks doesn't make him a decent player just makes it look like he's trying to get rid of it quick as he's not comfortable on the ball . Probably his best game for us but probably still our worst player on the night.

Yes and no. Nobody should be written off as crap after one game, same as one decent game doesn’t mean they are our salvation.

Bakwa has actually made 17 appearances, McAtee 18 and Ndoye 33. Yes I accept a good proportion of those were subs and limited minutes. Also accept McAtee in particular hasn’t played in his natural position. But they have all had opportunities to make an impression.

Lets keep it positive, thought all 3 of the above had their best games last night, we’re going to need all 3 at that level for the rest of the season.

Just got back. Flew into Manchester about lunchtime. What a trip, and what an away end.

Big props to Yates, bakwa, mcatee, Abbott and ndoye.

But I thought Luca played well - did his job as the previous posts have said. Can’t be easy when a lot of our fans are on his back. He might have changed vitor’s mind re further prem minutes after missing a few squads

And morato did a tidy job, after a lot of high pressure mistakes recently.

All the other posters have covered it far more eloquently than me !

I thought Morato was a bit unlucky with their goal. Glancing header hits him and he has no time to react. Could've dropped anywhere but falls right to their player.

Going back to the Mcatee position thing, I'd love to know how they sold the move to him. Surely, he must've been aware that he was coming in to be backup to MGW. I think he'd signed the new contract by then right? MGW is our best attacker, captain and also one of our fittest players and plays a lot of minutes. So surely Mcatee would've been aware of this when signing?

I'd love to know whether it was sold with an intention to play out wide, to play alongside or to just play cups/Europe and learn from MGW. Always felt like a better move for us than him in terms of early minutes. Maybe he didn't have any better offers and thought he'd get more minutes as MGW backup than at City. Just always found it a slightly odd one. Anyone have any idea?

Ironically now, I do think this current system could support both him and MGW if that was wanted, particularly if you have the wingers playing wingback. Not saying I think he should play ahead of Hutchinson though atm, but he definitely could.
