And how's that working out for them oh that's right they're still f**king up so they need to be made an example of. They simply can't keep mucking up and get no repercussions for it. Us as a club needs more than a few apologetic letters and lets face it no one knows what will happen but all of us knows something needs to happen sooner rather than later. We've had some bad decisions but there's no-one out to get us (or at least there wasn't!) If your house was broken into once you might put it down to bad luck. If your house was repeatedly broken into then it is not bad luck, it means there is a problem that needs addressing. We've tried a softer approach, and formal complaints, and the burglaries continue. No doubt they think we're a soft mark, with less media presence than the bigger clubs, so less blow-back if they side with the bigger clubs. They need to know we bite back. RE: VAR & Crap Referees - Paplane - 24-04-2024 In terms of what's to gain, what are we wanting to acheive, if I'm not mistaken the Spurs/Liverpool incident lead directly to change in the VAR process and the way the refs communicate. So Liverpool kicking up a stink actually improved matters for all clubs. If our little outburst can clarify when decisions are looked at and when they are not, then that's better for the game overall. Maybe we even break this situation where the refs are looking out for their mates and why they are reluctant to go to the screen etc. Who knows? And in the short term, we've now very publicly put the refs on notice that we're extremely aggrieved with their incompetance and if they give us a reason to kick-off in public again, we might collapse the entire system. That's a short term advantage surely? I didn't like the way the club accused the var of being biased. I don't think that the case at all and it shouldn't have been said. But if EM hadn't have said that then this very public debate wouldn't be happening now. You watched the videos I posted? One of the most experienced refs, a FIFA international ref deliberately not making the right call to give their mate in the middle an easier time. You think that's a one-off? That culture needs ripping out. And replacing with what? Foreign refs? Imagine the furore when another club is done over when a French ref makes a mistake which they would inevitably do. People are forgetting too should we stay up there are only so many qualified PL refs. Which means all those who we have accused of being incompetent or corrupt and told they must never officiate our matches again will have to referee us next season. We've had some bad decisions but there's no-one out to get us (or at least there wasn't!) Let's get this right - it is not bad luck that decisions that are proven to be wrong have gone against us, and lots of other teams. It is incompetence and poor performance from the match officials when there is now technology available to get it right. You shouldn't have to rely on luck for a match official to apply the laws of the game correctly. It is not a case of us just being on the wrong side of 50/50 handball decisions all season - let's not forget Boly being sent off in error and all the others. Putting it down to bad luck changes nothing for us or any club nor forces a debate that makes PGMOL do something about it. If you are to precious to accept any form of criticism or challenge, you will never seek to understand. learn and change. For me that's why it has got to this point and I strongly believe that time will show this to be a moment when enough was enough. May not help us specifically in our relegation fight but it doesn't need to. We have that in our gift if we believe we can do it. That's players, fans etc. 4 games to go - go win them all. RE: VAR & Crap Referees - Sausage Roll - 24-04-2024 Someone on Twitter made a list of seventeen incorrect decisions we'd been on the wrong end of this season. That works out at one every two matches (though the spread is different of course). That's a *lot* of bad luck. I thought refereeing decisions 'evened themselves out' over the season. Liverpool kicked up a big song and dance about that goal vs Spurs, a significantly worse error. Were you proud of them too? There is a lot at stake, staying in the PL being the key part. So how about we focus on getting the points we need and giving the team the best possible preparation for the remaining games rather than having a constant sideshow around PSR deductions, fans not backing the club of season ticket prices, the club taking on the league, PGMOL and the media in general. Taking on the establishment? Isnt that what we are doing rightly or wrongly? You say yourself EM won’t roll over which is admirable in the right situation. Plenty other people both on here and on other channels talking about “EM going to war” and “this is only the start” etc. RE: VAR & Crap Referees - Salvatore Matrecano - 24-04-2024 (24-04-2024, 11:39 AM)Sausage Roll Wrote: Someone on Twitter made a list of seventeen incorrect decisions we'd been on the wrong end of this season. Burnley handball is one. Pretty well every game we have played opposing fans say Yates should have had a red card. There will be plenty if you take the Garibaldi tinted specs off. Not saying we haven’t had some shockers or even the overall balance of decisions but look at the bigger picture. Bad luck in the sense that we're the ones that have got the most bad decisions, incompetence from the officials yes. If there was to be a benefit to come from this I'd like to see independent VAR operators, seems like a pretty major flaw right now. Completely separate to PGMOL, with refs trained specifically to operate VAR. Or just get rid of it but that seems less likely. Either way not gonna help us stay up! I don't fall for or care about the dramatic headlines SM, I can't stop people writing on other channels. How about we take a minute to consider how the players must be feeling? How about we take a minute to think about how Nuno and his staff must be feeling? It is not just our place in the PL at stake here it runs deeper than that. There are careers and jobs to think about and things like that. And can we stop using the word establishment. We are not taking on the Royal Family. It is the PGMOL so lets not put them on their high horse. RE: VAR & Crap Referees - Salvatore Matrecano - 24-04-2024 How must the players and managers be feeling when the club seemingly creates a never ending circus of distraction around them? |
