Incorrect. We needed to sell Johnson regardless because of how FFP works. 
We got £45m for him up front pure profit. Sangare is amortised at about £7m per year. The rest of the £45m went to balancing the books for the whole programme.

The whole recruitment team identified the need for a stronger central midfield, arguably the one decision that was correct but whether in hindsight we got the wrong man Im not yet sure.

Cooper has got some right (MGW) some wrong (Wood Shelvey. The wider recruitment team has got some right (Mangala, Murillo) some wrong (Dennis Freuler Montiel Origi)

No idea about our specific arrangement Tricky but I do know that for FFP purposes the fee counted as profit up front.
To be clear its the FFP bit that’s the important part. EM isn’t brassic, we couldn’t spend further because of FFP limits.

That's not my memory at the games to be fair, as soon as the 2nd of February fans were fighting in the away end at birmingham under Oneill after Aitor Karanka chants. Oneill was appointed on the 19th January.

Big Eck lasted 6 weeks after fans were calling him out after a disastrous start to his tenure. I wouldn't call that backing.

Both of those managerial changes were made when we were doing well and in the top 6. Both precipitated a downturn in results and a return to a more negative playing style. Hardly surprising they didn’t go down well. Not sure about fighting in the away end but would have thought that was a very isolated incident. At home games there was grumblings but nothing more.

Mcleish left after 6 weeks with 1 win in 7 games but mainly left because he wasn’t supported with January transfers as promised when appointed.

That is an appalling article full of errors and misquoting Taylor as well.

Correct Cooper didn’t have input on many signings exactly as it is at almost all PL clubs. He is head coach not manager nor head of recruitment.

It is Coopers job to coach the entire squad whoever they are.

We got in Santos before it was clear we would land either Sangare or Domingueez. It’s pretty obvious he was an insurance policy and a sensible one at that.

There are some absolutely bonkers suggestions on here on both sides of the Cooper argument which are twisting facts. I will try to call out those who are doing so when I can.
