I have a horrid feeling all is not well. I think many players were not Coopers pick. Toffolo for example…
He has put too much faith in the remaining players and making Worrall and Yates captains is a bit rash from the point of view that there is better quality players here now. I get it and hope it’s just a case of bedding in players to his ways of working but everyone can surely see that it isn’t working - we are not as good as last year with millions spent at the moment and the MGW Lingard and Jonno front line is just not what is needed.
I’ve missed the last 2 home games so it may be that I’m a lucky charm that’s needed!

Coopers sentiments to some players could be his downfall if he is not careful.

Great header, but thought he was a yard or two off the pace-definitely not match fit.

He has good pedigree though, so hopefully will be decent on the floor as well as in the air going forward.

Only CB who didn't drop clangers yesterday too.

I do know what you mean, Cooper doesn't seem a fan of Taiwo or Dennis either. Also, Freuler not been used at all. Plus the contract thing is still quite odd. I worry things like the weird choice to bring Colback on perhaps signal he wasn't as sold on the need to sign so many players and maybe this was his way of making the point (albeit I feel like he made the reverse point in the end!)

It would explain the contract situation more though if he was unconvinced by the strategy. Perhaps he felt it would put too much pressure on the team or has not enjoyed the spotlight it has put us under.

This is all wild speculation of course.

Change when brought in smartly will improve things but too much, too quick and when poorly planned change will cause damage. I'm used to arguing for patience and I do think that we need much of that now plus faith. But after yesterday I began to think more that the changes made over the window have been too many for the coaches to handle. I think that last season's team from say Easter on would have done better than we did yesterday. So the questions are: will performances improve and even is more change still needed. Obviously the first one I don't know. The second is no. I suggest that we don't move Sam Surridge on. We were glaringly short of striking skill yesterday and although I generally preferred Davies right now I think he's the best that we've got.

Alot of focus on the decision to bring Colback on. Harsh on JC. Was our best outfield player v Newcastle (not saying much admittedly), following illness, was the only calm head at Man City - albeit game had long gone- and worked his nuts off to stop us conceding a 4th covering for others' errors on Saturday.

Of course Freuler also has pedigree, but was anonymous on Wednesday. Anyone at the game would have taken a point at 2-2 as we were getting schooled all over the pitch by then. To turn the tide needed 7 or 8 of our lads to somehow turn around poor performances suddenly- rarely happens in the real world  let alone in last quarter of a match.

We only "created" late on when we smashed long balls and hit and hope crosses into the box from a centre half-assisted by a ropey keeper. Not really the plan we want to follow I'd say.

But Cooper does have a plan, just need the players to execute it much better - all over the park, he has 8 days now to make sure they do. Point 1of plan is probably dont make costly individual errors.

He clearly trusts JC though.

If you’re referring to Cook then he was massively at fault for the second

I see your point, it just felt odd. Maybe you're right and he genuinely thinks JC is the best option. Doesn't say a lot for Freuler as a signing then though if he can't get ahead of Colback.

Freuler may need time to adapt/ get match fit tbf. He was like a lost sheep at City.

I should also add Colback on form is better than many give him credit for but Cooper knows.

This ^^

Indeed all is not well and yesterdays 'political' team named by Cooper and bringing on Colback further proves the point along with what Ozzy said.

Some things are stinking and it needs sorting ASAP or unfortunately people will pay with their jobs and it might not be just the manager either. We need our strongest team on the field not our 'political' team and we need results and points on the board that is the only thing that will prevent change like it or lump it, I am just telling you how it is.

I haven't watched it back, but being down to 10 without Yates presence in the box for the corner made it seem inevitable. I've heard a bit of bad luck too as deflected off Mckenna.

Think we'll get a clearer picture of what Cooper sees as his best back 3 and line up after 8 days on training ground with them (assuming no day off today).
