Check the goals scored for Brighton and Newcastle. And whether they gave him time to have a full season of his own, with (actual recruitment) and whether they got promoted.

Ask Brighton fans.

Why were they in the ground today? Have they watched the last 12 months under him

They got promoted from this league with Hughton.  Going close once and then getting promoted with the 2nd swing of the bat.

Ask Brighton fans.

I’m asking us, looking at the past 12 months.

Whilst I agree with most of this. It was frustrating today and I doubt any of the options CH had would have done much more -  aside from Carvalho, who carried his confidence with him from Wednesday.

But you are wasting your time with certain folk who post gleefully on here after a defeat, but are very quiet when we win.

With 2 wins in 16, something will no doubt change one way or another soon. Personally I am hoping its our results and not the manager that changes, but that's clearly not the case for all of our "supporters". You know who you are.

Well said, Zicorice.

there isn't anyone on here that wanted us to lose today, most would of been happy with a draw before kick off

so if we have a go at Hughton by default we are being 'gleeful'?

Every single person on here at 2.1 down, 60 minutes, Red card would of taken drastic action, everyone, except Hughton, he has proved he has no plan B whatsoever

I would of sent McKenna up front, replaced Colback with Mighten immediately and after 10 mins max would of done summat else, but that's just me, we probably would of lost 1.6 but so what, the sending off was a golden opportunity and Hughton didn't grasp it with both hands, the guy is in mentally deluded lost the plot territory, he has no creative/improvisation side to him, it's gone, we got the hologram not the winner

Negative comments or no, I’m pretty sure that everyone on this forum want nothing but the best for our club, if they think it’s a change of manager then so be it, we’ve seen the results of this year in yearout and where are we, in the 2nd tier of the football league still after , what, 17 years. Does that mean then that CH instilling some long term stability will make us fare better. I don’t think so , stability doesn’t get you promoted, what it is doing at this point in time is poor performances, poor results, angry supporters and mid table obscurity. It’s a result based game , poor results means change of manager by the big guy, and it will come out of the blue methinks.

Sorry for being thick but why is it the managers fault the defence switched off? , to be fair Colback and Yates didnt cover themselves in glory for the goals either.
Figs doesnt look sharp enough, Gabriel looked like little boy lost, nowhere near good enough on that showing and we had a debutant playing out of position at LB. Up front we had a 31 year old with a gravity problem and a 34 year old who looks totally spent.
But yes that is all obviously the manager fault.

I have sympathy with this post.

Figs hasn't had a pre-season much at all.  He aint fit.

Colback and Yates for the goal.  Fair point, Guv'.  I'm a fan of both.  But the sooner get a ball player and drop one of them to the bench...

Gravity problem.  Heh, heh.  I like that.  That's witty.  34 in this league?  The part is over.  We should have made serious moves to get a striker in last season.  We knew what age Grabban was then.

Recruitment have had time to bring in a striker.  Still waiting.  Hughton must be spitting feathers.  He made the point post match.  'We need to recruit.'

It's a patched defence and a bit upside down.

Nobody wants Forest to lose.  Who said that?

Hughton put on Car', Mighten etc.  All the players people want.

But he can't do anything about 2 key CHs being out.  No LB.  No young striker.

I'm sure recruitment are working on it.

They had a goal disallowed for offside.  Bournemouth are in a better place.

And we're just out the staring gates.  They had a quality player who made the difference.  If we'd had him, for example, Bournemouth would have gone down.

We can blame Hughton, but Samba has to make that save.  We're short of another 4-5 players.  It shows.

Some of it is promising.  But you can't give 2 goals away.  They were soft.  The players have to stand up for that.

SA.

PS. I would have sent Thor up front with the ball attached to Mjolnir. That way, Forest score and get the draw.

RE: Nottingham Forest - Bournemouth - Alf - 14-08-2021

Most frustrated I've been with Hughton today. I think he gets more flak than he deserves, but also left it way late to bring Cavs on.

I'm no massive Carvs fan, I think he's got an awesome passing range & eye for a pass, but I'm not also one of these who thinks he's a must-start match-winner either. But when you've someone sat on the bench who played great & scored 2 mid-week, and you're 2-1 down at home to 10 men, you don't leave it to the last 10-15 min of the game to bring them on.

Also, our defence is poor and we can't rely on building a side around defending. Hughton has to adapt his approach or Dane will replace him IMO.

Here it is again, trying to discredit people who criticize Hughton. I don't see glee on here.

Calling people "supporters"? How about you respond to what they are criticizing if you disagree, not make snidey attacks on the people, as if you're better than them.

Bournemouth had 6 first teamers out, but we didn't take it to them. Their best player was sent off with half an hour left, yet we played with 2 defensive midfielders and left the guy most able to unlock a defence on the bench until minute 83. Alternatively if he wanted to persist with crosses from wide, why not have Taylor and Grabban up top. Against 10 men is a time you can.

Our style of play is not to use the middle much anyway, but give it wide and put hopeful crosses in. Similar stuff last season, Hughton seems to do that. There has been no porgression on how we play, it's like he just wants to do that but have better players to do it. Its from yesteryear.

RE: Nottingham Forest - Bournemouth - Mcforest - 14-08-2021

For me it is the frustration that's CH refuses to try anything different or break away from the do not lose set up. When you are losing you can't just switch that mind set or tactics. Training plays such a huge part in game time and it is showing they are more focused on defense first. I'm seeing nothing that shows me they are being coached on moving the ball forward into areas and then build again. If they are then our players are not even league one level which is worse. I admit I wasn't there and I am totally relying on match reports and radio for this game but I did see cov and I saw last season and time and time again it was the same. Does he need to go. I'm not sure as I still have hope.

(14-08-2021, 06:03 PM)zicorice Wrote: Well that was frustrating.

Positives
- Being back where we belong.  (Aye.)
- The two loans look OK.  (Think they're decent.)
- Samba didn't make a single save-he should have though.  (!!!)
- Carvalho looked confident when on.  (Seemed to.)
- Was in pub from 11.45.  (...)
- It was sunny.  (...heh...)
- Daughter got a pic with Leigh Wood.
- Plenty of room for improvement.......  (Er.  Yes.)

Negatives
- Continued to look toothless. (Need a young striker.  What's the hold up?  Two years and counting.)
- Defence looked very shaky for goals.  (Yeah...2 CHs missing, an unfit Fig and it showed.)
- We never upped it when they went down to 10.  (A touch late doing so.)
- Hughton really did not want to gamble at 1-2 or against 10 men.  (...if we'd gone done to 10 men, we'd have been on the rack...)
- Grabban did not look sharp.  (No.  Another one with a 'no' pre-season.  He's not only 34.  He's not match fit.)
- We have a problem defensively.  (Huston, we have a problem.  I  thought we'd need a CH.  Turns out we REALLY need one now.)

Overall, somewhat disappointing, but Bournemouth looked a very decent side. Brooks best player on park until red carded needlessly.  (IF in fairy land, we have Brooke?  We bury Bournemouth today.  That was the different...well, and all the other things you listed...no LB, 2 CHs injured, no young striker, no ball player CM.  Come on recruitment, pull your finger out.)

Cheers for the balanced write up, Zicorice.

SA.

RE: Nottingham Forest - Bournemouth - SSM - 14-08-2021

Today is on Hughton.

30mins to go against 10 men, and he refuses to make a positive change to the system. Persists with two deep midfielders, doesn't even bring the one who plays out from deep on, and gives the #10 7 minutes to make the difference.

Stubborn and arrogant.

It will be his undoing here.
