I think it would be ridiculous to want otherwise. As with all fans, of course we were happy when we were winning and pushing the top end. If this was just a blip in form and a short term issue we would still be supporting the manager. However, this is not a recent issue. We are not winning (not even drawing) and we are not scoring. And most importantly the manager doesnt seem willing to change or move away from tactics that are not working.
Some still support the manager
Some want him gone.
The longer get this goes on the more will fall in to the latter.
Stability only works where the performances show hope. Inconsistency where performances are good some games and poor others offer hope moving forward. Playing well and losing offers hope moving forward and is something we can all get behind. But, again, the current performances (going back 8 months now) do not inspire hope and any form. We are playing terribly and losing and on top of that it's the most boring and negative style of football we have seen in a long time... dont give me the counter attacking shite because we haven't done that effectively since leeds at home.
Everyone is entitled to support the manager or want him gone. Doesnt mean we support the club any less if our opinions differ. We all see things differently.
You're not asking for stability, you're asking for a team that plays well every game and never has a bad patch. Every team goes through inconsistency, the base of stability is knowing that despite a bad run the manager will not change and have to look at short term solutions.
If you want the manager out fine (that Barnsley game last year was almost enough on its own) but dont try and claim you also was consistency.
I suspect if we ever somehow went up and we're inevitably rubbish in the higher league people would want the manager out within 10 games.
Completely agree Pap, bit surprised at quite the level of negativity on this forum. I thought most could see the value in keeping a manager long term and letting him learn from his mistakes. I can only imagine how bad some of the other forums must look and twitter!

Don't unhappy people speak more about it, one of the quirks of human nature. Maybe there is a silent majority in favour of giving him more time - is there a poll?
Good idea. I have no clue how to put a poll up but if anyone can, lets do it. Say have it open for the next 24 hours to get a snapshot as to where we are today. Black and white question - Should Sabri be sacked, yes or no? (And no 'maybe if x y or z happens) .
Have just posted such a poll.

Due to the nature of football stability Is only going to come with results... we haven't had results since january.
I'm not asking g for good football every game I am asking for the hope that things will change.
We play poor and win... there is hope
We play well and lose... there is hope

At the moment and since january we haven't been winning or playing well.... where is the hope there especially on such a long run of poor results and performances.
Some people believe that because it's a new season we should almost forget the run since january. If performances had been improved since the start of this season then fair enough..
The point is though, that performances are the same as they were and results are just as bad.
There is no sign of hope with this manager. That doesnt mean he wont turn it around and I hope he does but come on, how can you back something that is currently so wrong.

Because it's not yet been determined that there is anything wrong. On saturday we played a young lad in Gabriel who was making his debut. Colback was rusty (that was clear to see). He and Freeman were playing their first competitive game for ages. Lolley came off as he is probably only 75% fit. Sow's a major influence for us but was injured (again). I don't know but there's a good argument to suggest all the other new players were not yet up to the required fitness levels. Cash and Watson were gone and the team had to adapt to that. Yet in spite of all of that, if Grabban puts one of those gilt edged chances away, or Figs doesnt make his mistake for the pen there's a good chance we get an away point on the opening day and we're saying job well done, good start etc.
And to use the the Barnsley cup game as a measure of the performance of the team is simply ridiculous. The team Sabri sent out for that game included Carvalho, who we know isnt going to and has never had a chance under Sabri. That to me suggests how much importance was placed on that game by the club.

Pap its a result based buisiness. I still advocate the first 10 game rule, so still a bit on the fence for now but looking back at 2020, wow...it doesnt look good at all ... earlier Widdow highlighted how other managers with a less worse record were sacked. The continuity and stability mantra works only when there is a sign of improvement and not the opposite.
I think every one remember how Ranieri won the Premiership with Leicester, an achievement that probably will never be matched by another regional team manager, ended up. He wasnt even given a full season after making them champions. So what has Sabri gave Forest to deserve an unlimited time of stay? I am just asking this not because I want him sacked tomorrow, but for everyone to be realistic.
September, October and November are going to be crucial for Sabri (and probably for Forest too).

I can think of 3 factors that make a slow start understandable:
1) A limited pre-season, and indeed a shorter one than other clubs due to coming back later. Now you can argue why we were later back, but given the club know the players and will have been tracking their physiology (and mentality), I will assume they know better than me.
2) New players to integrate and a change in balance of the side as couple of key first team players have left. Indeed we are still bringing in new players.
3) New formations to practice, now we have / are building a deeper squad that gives us more options.
You may disagree with them, but you asked how people can back it, and there are some reasons.
I do not like our style of play fwiw. I wouldn't mind as much if it was more effective, which it was early last season. I think we need more flexibility, and to be more adventurous. Hopefully when the transfer windows closes we will have the squad the coach wants that will allow for that, and have had time to put this into matches.
What I do need is to see signs of progression towards it. I have seen him trying 3 at the back in friendlies. I see the youth team lining up with 3 at the back. I see him trying the academy to overcome losing Cash without trying someone who I regard as a proven failure, and an unallocated no 2 shirt that gives me hope. I see Mighten being given a bigger role in the first team set-up, which will probably take some time to come to fruition. I see him/them bringing in an ambitious signing (Mbe Soh) in a position that I saw as a weakness (Figs) in terms of passing from the back and getting midfield further up the pitch. Maybe he gets selected for the next match (fingers crossed) which hopefully will be another step towards the target state. I think we need more signings, so I think it will continue to be a work in progress during the window. Until then we need to still pick up points, which if it wasn't for an individual error and poor finishing we'd have got at least a draw at QPR.
If I saw no signs of change, I'd vote to pull the plug. But I see signs of us having identified the weaknesses, and doing things about them. And frustrating as it is, I put the emotion aside and give it some time to see it consistently materialize at 3pm on a Saturday.

Just to make it clear, Sabri may well be around for the whole season and beyond and be a resounding success
I hope he is, I love stability, a nice steady long term relationship and walks in the park over waking up with some one night stand bunny boiler pilfering through my wallet.
But the relationship with Sabri for me is damaged, he needed to lose to Stoke and a 7 goal swing and tried to slow the game down with 30 minutes to go, this is after a bizarre game plan versus Barnsley and this was after a lengthy run of poor results.
I hope he can recover, ideally a total fresh renewal, rejuvinated, optimistic Sabri, he has the squad and everything around him is as good as what any opponent has, I would of thought much better than most.
At the moment he isn't bringing anything to the party, and that party is full of new and familiar faces, plenty of quality booze and good music, or should be and if it isn't the manager is the go to guy to get the party started.
Personally if he was going, the end of the Stoke game would of made the most sense, unfortunate and sad but the right decision in my opinion.
Now, there is more riding on the next game, so for me it makes the season, specifically the next game more interesting and no reason it can't be a tactical and motivational masterclass.
For whatever reason Sabri has been, for many games now setting up not to lose, but we are at a stage now where it seems he cannot afford not to win, I think this is good for the club and a sensational opportunity for Sabri.
Thanks to you I'm reelling myself back in from the raving screaming Sabri out looney, I'm looking forward to the next game, I believe every game is the most important game and it certainly feels that way, roll on Saturday.
The timing and circumstances of every manager sacking in recent times has hurt me, O'Neill, Karanka, Warburton and Pearce in particular, between now and Saturday isn't the right time, but as we know the timing is often bizarre. But to survive that loss and 7 goal swing was far more bizarre, you got to admit that, then factor in the other farcically bizarre factors in the run up to it.
The bottom line is we are all looking forward to Saturday and everyone is desperate for a good result and performance, we all want Sabri to succeed, I hope he does but I am concerned that there was more damage done to relationships, confidence, ego's, mentality, everything than some are prepared to comprehend.

I stopped reading after "due to the nature of football stability is only going to come with results". That's not stability, the only teams that have consistently good results are the ones that win the league, we've proven by now that is not possible.
Can't we just stick by a guy for once and allow him time to utilise an improved squad and regain momentum?
I'm assume someone will hide behind the old "well Marinakis will get rid thats his way" to avoid defending the manager. He hasn't so far and perhaps seems to have changed tactics (certainly cheaper not to sack someone after giving them a new deal!) I don't know whether the club follows this forum in great detail (they should though) but would be good to present a vaguely united front

Hold on, who's decided that this was the wrong decision? The players were dead on their feet against Stoke, and some playing injured.
I’m not saying it was right or wrong Pap.
Just wonder why we returned 2 weeks after some teams - their season ended on the same day as ours.
It may turn out to be a master stroke - then again it is possible that we were undercooked for the games at Barnsley & QPR.

A few points I would raise from your post.
It's not clear there is something wrong....... I would suggest the huge downturn in performance and results since january are more than enough evidence. If we had come back this season and lost both games but the performances were an improvement on last season I would agree. However the performances are no different... there is a lot wrong.
Second the barnsley game. You say it is ridiculous to use this game.... I say it is ridiculous not to. The first competitive game after the disappointing end to the season. Winning g breeds confidence and losing does the opposite. If you are suggesting that he fielded a team he didnt think could win then he should go now regardless. We needed to win that game to show we had moved on. You talk about playing a young right back... ge did the same in the QPR game. If he doesnt think gabriel is good enough he should have been targeting a replacement. He has stated he isn't.
I will reiterate I would be happy for sabri to prove me wrong and I will be the first to hold my hands up but there is no evidence that any progress has been made from june and july or the games against millwall and Charlton.

Who cares about the Barnsley game?! Seriously he played a reserve team so we'd have more time to rebuild fitness ahead of a shortened season. Getting knocked out is a positive!
