Barnsley - Nottingham Forest

We are out of this Tinpot cut and so will not suffer severe fixture congestion.

We start with a poor performance - nothing better for reminding everyone of the task ahead.  It is often the eventual winners who start poorly and those what start well that fade away.

Minds will be focussed now, wake up call done.......onwards to QPR.

Like it, except the perfect result would have been to score near the end and win on pens.

Other than that I fully agree.

For the first time in my life yesterday I was happy for us to lose a match.

It was nothing more than a glorified friendly and I am glad we are out of this tinpot competition and we have now avoided the fixture congestion. By the way all the people slagging off the team and manager for losing this glorified friendly where were you all last week when we beat West Brom from the PL? That result barely got a mention on this forum.

It's probably understandable that some people start demanding a different formation and game plan but I don't believe that would have helped much yesterday. When you only manage a pass accuracy of 50% you will have a serious issue independent of formation. I choose to believe that the reason for the low pass accuracy is that the team are still in preseason mode. Hopefully a further week with training will rectify that.

We won 3 out of our last 15 league games. It looks like this trend could continue. We cant win games.

Plus we were missing a lot of players that you'd predict would start normally.

Jenkinson, Worrall, Colback, Lolley, Sow (if he ever plays again), Freeman (didn't start), then you add in the fact that there were a number of debutants and just not worth over analysing.

What I would say is that the first month will be tough with the team still building fitness, for Sabri's sake we could really do with a few wins to re build confidence

Sorry, get real, the West Brom game Is totally irrelevant , that was a park kick about.

Yesterday was a proper competitive game, make no mistake we were playing to win. That we were so poor and disjointed is worrying some of us and rightly so.

League games. Yeah and failed to score in the other 2 and the cup game losing 3.  We don't create or score enough. I dont see how this will just dramatically change

We have scored 1 goal in the last 4 games ...friendlies or not

55% yesterday, however it was only 57% when we played there in a 'proper' game 6 weeks ago.

We're poor in possession and have been for ages. Play away against a pressing team like Barnsley and we look clueless.

Pass accuracy wasn’t helped by Jordan Gabriel. Time & again he would break up play or go on a marauding run only to spill possession or just give the ball away.

Sniff let's wait before we say that we were happy to lose this and to lose that...for me these are all excuses to justify a crap performance nd a continuation of what was last season. The season that counts will commence next week, no excuses of new players needing time to gel nd that carry on ... only Cash is missing from the core of last season so if according Lamouchi that team needed only some fine tuning,  there is no need to change 5 or 6 players from the team that played last year... he can ease the new comers ... I hope that we r not in the bottom 5 after 10 games or SL will not bd here for long ... his 2020 record will be one of the worst of any Forest manager in history...

Part of the reason for the poor level of pass accuracy is that we are playing longer percentage balls, we were very direct yesterday.

I’m not convinced we have the height and dominance in the final third to make that pay consistently.
