Barnsley - Nottingham Forest

A bit lifeless.

Erm.

I'd say.  We give the Coach ten games to see where we are.

Lots of players in.  Half of them aren't fit and didn't start.

Sow and Lolley not fit.  Two massive players.

More players to come in to fill those problem areas of Winger, CH and Passing CM.

Just don't seem to deal with balls at the back, put our foot on it in midfield...or a winger that can excite to supply ammo to the front line.

We had nobody who could get on the ball and start attacks, just rushed every time we had it and gave it away. Even your ball players like Joao were guilty of it. Missed a Colback/Watson type to get hold of it.

It’s 2020 not 1980.

Sacricadabra didn't wave his magic wand today.  And he hasn't done much of that since bladdy January.

No magic in today's performance and the excuses keep on coming.

I guess Barnie must have a bigger wage turnover than Forest to keep turning us over.

Forest just get used to loosing and performing like the lifeless crap they were today.

We get it's not 1980.  For anyone who lived it, today was a painful reminder.

Forest were never the richest club.  But they used to recruit well.  With a manager that brought in the right players with the right playing ethos.  And we'd buy a key player or two to add reach quality to positions that needed it.

Not 38% possession and not being able to put their foot on a ball or play incisively. Clough would turn in his grave at the style of denial football being played.

£14 million for Cash.  Don't need to spend all of that.  Forest are being run better.  We get all that.

However.  Now we need a couple of quality players.  One or two talismanic players that can grab the game.

Not £13 million posers that give the ball away 6 times.

The good news is we have 6 players in. Most of them are probably no where near fit or have any clue as to what the Coach wants them to do style wise. As evidences by the 'Random Ball' played today. And another 2-4 players more to come in and add to the pick and mix.

He's got about ten games to bake the cake. He better be in that top 6.

QPR will probably have a pattern of play. I hope we have something resembling that next week.

I wasn't able to watch the game so I would appreciate if somebody could tell me what happened. We seemed to start okay and a few were even impressed with the high pressing. Did we stop pressing or ...?

Losing a match away at a club in the same division is hardly a shock.

I agree Jsmed, midfield is where we were lacking. Colback’ s composure should make a difference.

Aye.  It's early days.  Because Forest are building again.  Strangely, with the same Coach that they employed last season.

But we missed a Colback.  A Sow.

A monster at the back.

And a winger to 'get in there.'

The CH, Ball Playing CM and Winger are key positions coming up.  I hope recruitment reach a bit higher.

Seemed to calm down after about 20 mins yeah, not sure why. Perhaps barnsley just got on top of us a bit.

It always is to me.  And it is when you consider Forest's wage bill.

It's shocking to lose to Barnie when you need a point.

And it's shocking being turfed out the cup to Barnie.

Composure.  Hopefully, Colback will add some.  Because it wasn't evident today.

Midfield 3 of Colback, Sow and Freeman looks good on paper, especially away from home.

Barnie beat Forest with that 'typical' we 'didn't deal with it' scruffy goal because (I think it was...) Fred who committed himself and didn't keep his feet.

But you get a lot of that scruffy football in the Championship.  And Forest need to deal with it.

However, Forest haven't been dealing with it for some time.

Hopefully the elusive potion that is currently eluding the Coach...will be remedied by the ten game mark.

If we can get those three fit and on the pitch it will be a gangster midfield.

Very early days but for me it’s not the defeat it’s the style of play. Doesn’t look like it will change.
