But would that be a 'setback', or just the normal timescale for getting over a shin splints injury? The Stoke game was 22 July. 2 months complete rest, 1 month pre-season fitness work. October seems about right to me.

Personally, I'd like to see him completely rested rather than see him try to start the season, struggle through & potentially have him break down again, or have his entire season compromised with re-occurrences of the injury.
