Predictions League 2020/21 Important Announcement

Dear Fellow Reds,

Some of you took part in a pilot predictions league last season, which proved to be a reasonable success, considering over half of the fixtures had already been completed when we started it up. In total there were 45 people who took part in the league, of which about 35 were regular entrants for every match.

The league was run by myself and Joe Baker Legend, who did all of the checks and oversights to make sure that I had put everything down right and no mistakes had been made. Sniffer Dog was happy to let us run the league with no interference from him or the COYR site management. I would like to take this opportunity to thank JBL for his excellent work behind the scenes and give acknowledgement for this guy, as it was me that took the limelight by posting the scores and league tables, yet JBL did as much work as I did but without the gratification from you guys. I would also like to thank Sniffer for allowing the league to run in the way that it did without any interference what-so-ever from him or any of the other Moderators. He even took it in great spirit that his Wife was the first champion of the league!

Now we move on to the 2020/21 Predictions League.

Some of you will already have seen that the new predictions league is going to be named in commemoration of young Aaron Higgs, an 11 year old Forest supporter who sadly lost his life a few short months ago. Aaron would often read the posts on COYR, with his dad McForest, who has so very kindly given us endorsement to name the league in memory of his son, which we will now proudly do.

In addition to the league being named in Aaron's honour, the new season will see prize money for the top three players at the end of the season. The prize money, has been kindly donated anonymously by one of our regular posters, whose Father, a 96 year old Forest supporter and former season ticket holder,  also sadly passed away earlier this year and who had left a small amount of money to his family and it is their wish that an amount of it be used as prize money for the COYR Aaron Higgs Memorial Predictions League.

Both of these gestures have blown my mind! To lose any member of your close family is always very, very hard to come to terms with. To lose a very young son, who is still a baby in his parents minds and hearts must have been so unimaginatively difficult to cope. The same applies to losing ones parents also. I am lucky not to have had to bury any of my children, but I have had to bury both of my parents, and the pain that comes with that is so unbearable, one can't put it into words. So for both of these very brave and generous people, who share our common love for Nottingham Forest Football Club, to generously give their blessings and kind donations to fellow Reds is nothing short of heroic!

On behalf of the Predictions League Organisers, COYR and all of the Forums users, may i take this opportunity to thank you both, along with your families for your blessings and generosity.

The Prize Money for next season

1st Place will win £100

2nd Place will win £50

3rd Place will win £25.

It is the hope of our anonymous donor, that we will see even larger numbers of COYR posters taking part in next season Predictions League and of which will be regulars week in, week out.

Thank you for your continued support

Tricky and Joe Baker Legend

Mac, if at any time you find this too upsetting mate, let me know and we can change things around. We are just so extremely grateful to you and your family for agreeing to commemorate Aaron in this way.

So do we have to 'sign up' for this then Tricky or do we wait for the first game of the season and just give our predictions.

Just like before Sniff.

About a week or so before we start taking the predictions, I will post a set of rules that I have drawn up. You and JBL have already seen the draft of them, but now there is prize money at stake, I need to just give the rules a bit of a tickle here and there. One thing I will be dropping from the actual league table is the number of games each player has taken part. It doesn't really serve much purpose and just makes the table look a mess, around the bottom of the table!

To join in, you just make your prediction, just as before and anyone making a prediction for that specific game will be added to the league table. Obviously, the more points you accumulate, the better the chance you have got of winning the league and the top prize money. You therefore stand more chance of accumulating higher point totals by taking part more often. So it is down to the individual to remember to put their predictions on. I will of course put up reminders before the match starts, but at the end of the day, it is up to each individual, who fancies a chance at winning £100, to put their prediction on. If they don't then they have less chance of getting a higher points total. SNOOZE AND YA LOSE!!!  ;)

I hope that clears things up mate
