Player of the Year 2019/20 Season
#25
(19-07-2020, 10:08 AM)Turkish Wrote: Its Ben Watson by a country mile, his legs had gone, shot it, well passed it, groans a plenty anytime he found his way to a starting lineup but this season, the heart of the team Cash and Worrall are in a similar category, Sow and Samba have been outstanding signings Silva not far behind, Figs and Ribero have not put a foot wrong and Ameobi grafts his bollocks off and is never far from changing the game for us

Point is this is the beauty of this team from best to worst there is little difference, there is hardly a player who hasn't done really well, when you have virtually 1/2 the team as strong candidates and the other half you could put up a case for you aren't going far wrong

Watson, best defensive midfield player in the league this season

Well put Turkish. I too believe that Watson has been the best DCM in the league this season. I know that Kalvin Phillips will most likely the heralded as the best but if you look at the stats Watson is better.

1. Both have just over 2000 passes in total and Watson has an accuracy of 83% compared to Phillips' 81,9%.
2. Both players use long passes to initiate attacks and here Watson has an accuracy of 75,9% compared to Phillips who has 73,7% (passes opp. half)
3. Tackles won Watson 64,4% compared to Phillips 62,5% (both involved in 65 tackles)
4. If we look at clearances, blocks and interceptions Watson come out on top with 64, 27 and 72 compared to Phillips with 50, 12 and 52.
5. Watson has 3 goals and Phillips 2
6. Watson has 4 assists and Phillips just 2.

I could have kept on listing stats in favor of Watson but I hope you all get the picture. Watson for Player of The Season.

I voted for CASH.
He has been the best right-back in the league this season, no other Forest can claim they are the best in their position.
I think he has found his best position and want him to stay a right-back or right-wing-back.

Without him we haven't looked such a good team.

'I think he has found his best position and want him to stay a right-back or right-wing-back.'

never a truer word said- i get very nervous when people suggest he plays right wing again.  If hes fit, he plays RB

Yep fully deserved.

the lad is made of the right stuff.

released as a young kid from Wycombe for being too small, fought his way back into the Pro game, and spotted by Jimmy Gilligan and bought to Forest.

fast forward 5 years and through very hard work and dedication has turned himself into the best full backs in the second tier of English football, and poised to make his step up to the Premier League.

very well played Matty.

I only just got round to voting. Nice that we had a few candidates, but a straight forward one.

I voted for Matty Cash as he was our best player this season.

Me too, only voted yesterday as I was waiting for the play-offs, also went for Cash, though I thought it was an easy decision based on the 46 match season. Well done Matty.

Quiz question: When was the last time a full-back got POTY?

Well done Matty!

I am pleased that I voted for the lad. His commitment and hard work will be painfully missed IMO, should the board decide to let him go.

Why is it that we always seem to sell our player of the season though?
