Home to Swansea reminded me - I think it may have been Swansea at home last season that Joao came on as sub and shirked a 50/50 challenge. MON was furious, and Keane got off the bench to give him a salvo.

Shortly after he came on against Huddersfield a couple of weeks ago he shirked a challenge. I couldn't see Sabri's response on ifollow but he hasn't played since.

It's that inability / unwillingness to tackle that has left him on the bench I guess.

He just doesn’t fit the profile of player that Sabri demands in the midfield area.

every midfielder in a Sabri team has to run, and has a defensive responsibility and a physical responsibility to the team. 

Sabri has never played and I highly doubt will ever play with a conventional number 10.
sabri plays with a 6 (Watson) and 2 8’s (Yates, Sow, Silva, Semedo, Johnson).
and within the 2 number 8’s he prefers a ‘technical leader’ which is where Silva fits in.

all managers have different philosophies, Karanka preferred two 6’s and a number 10 so JC suited that system.
and for all the demand from certain sections, he has never provided the goals/assists to make up for his deficiencies IMO

Yes, those deficiencies mean he's not able to perform the no 8 role. Shame, but it doesn't look like changing anytime soon.

Yep this is it in a nutshell, really not a lot else to it. Some players are flexible with position, sadly Carv is not. 

I suppose the argument against this is our struggles to attack at home and perhaps Sabri should be looking to turn one of his 8s into a more attacking role, which could potentially allow for the inclusion of someone like him (I say someone like as he'll def be off) 

Assuming we don't get up, its our main challenge next season, to kick on in games where the other teams sits back and gives us possession. Perhaps allowing more freedom to a central midfielder could be utilised to take advantage of the extra time on the ball. I thought we played well that one game where we played 4231. Was it millwall or Qpr?

Silva has been a great signing. When he gets the ball he wants to turn and go forward. He's very hard to get off the ball as well and works hard when we don't have the ball.
I'd be interested in seeing passing stats, where ball going forward, I suspect he'd be near the top.

I have noticed that. Gives us time to regroup and take a breather. I really like Silva.

He's been a quality signing along with Figs and Ribeiro.

In the prem -i'd have loved to have seen Carv, Silva and Ben O given a bit of space to play, pass and move. That said, i'm pragmatic- got to get there first and not a chance (as we know) does that cut it in the Championship
