2nd Half comments......

Its now or never.
We have to win!!

9 seconds in and Potts nearly scores goal of the season!

Forest clear one off their line. Close.

Are we playing Forests womens team with all this squealing from them? Man up FFS

Soft yellow card imo

Nah proper yellow that. Just wish the Forest players would stop with the pathetic noises

Forest board kept saying we were diving and conning the ref in the reverse leg. Pot kettle comes to mind

With all the grunting and screaming I thought Wimbledon was on

I'd be embarrassed if I were a Forest fan. We aren't exactly angels when it comes to gamesmanship but it is pathetic

Nice tactics from forest to add sounds to every tackle on them. The ref is poor again and forest are playing on it

A lot of our lads look a hell of a lot happier in a 4 4 2 - most of them have played their footy in leagues 1 and 2.

Watching maguire is painful. He tries but hes obviously way out of his depth.

Why take your main scorer off.
I really dont get it.

Hughes keeps allowing Ameobi on to his left foot

Forest taken off their midfield ball winner for a ball player.
Into last 23 mins.

I think we are playing excellent. Just need a finish now

Last ten mins plus stoppage time.
Forest seem slightly on top at the moment.
Keep plugging away Preston and get that goal.

We scored 3 on Wednesday from this point in the game...

It's been all Forest for the last 15 minutes, so I'm looking forward to our match-winning push.

Draw not going to be enough here, really need to push in last 10 minutes.
Edit: Only shots on target have been the goals.

Forest subs have just opened the game up a little whereas ours have stunted us slightly

Forest looking more likely at the minute.
At this point we have to risk losing and go for their throat

That’s it....I now declare the season officially over.

Come on ref please put 7 mins up

I'd have taken a point at kick off but having watched the game I cant help but feel we should be getting more

And this referee is a complete plonker....

All forest have to do is fall over ref will dwindle away game for them

FT 1-1

Forest have got what they came for, we needed more than that with Brentford away next up.

Decent performance against a good Forest side. PNE edged the game for me and tried hard for the winner. Unlucky not to get the 3 points.

15 shots 2 on target, the same problem all season persists again today.

Played well today, only really one team wanted to win the game but Forest defended well. Not sure if a point will be enough.

God we’re such a let down. Every game of high importance we seem to deflate. A really good opportunity today and we f**k it up once again. Forest didn’t look all that and yet we still couldn’t come up trumps

No complaints about the performance today. Good blocks from Forest players prevented the winner. Not a lot of clear cut chances but plenty of endeavour. Not today thats done for us but the flat earlier home performances against Cardiff and Derby.

Every team we play folks say aren't any good !

Did you watch the game? Forest were there for the taking. They came to not get beat. Happy to sit back and soak up the pressure and had the occasional break up the pitch.

We effectively settled for 1-1 on 65 minutes when Sinclair was subbed.

After that, we allowed Forest to dictate the pace, and resorted to the same old long hopeful punts, with the same old long hopeful results.

And Forest were always happy with a point from the outset, so they fully played their part in that.

Just shown the penalty decision again on SSN and their players had slipped when he turned with his leg sliding away from him and he was going down before BP touched him. Never a penalty

Forest had a game plan which they executed very well.

Don’t see forest getting to the final, whether they play Brentford/West Brom or Fulham. Not greatly impressed

They were very good defensively and we had to be on our game for the 90 minutes as they're very good on the break too.

We deserve credit for stopping them from testing Rudd.

Taking off attacking players - the ones who won us the game midweek, no less - and reverting to a tried-and-tested negative formation, and surrendering possession to a slow-motion Forest for the last 30 minutes, and switching to a hoof-and-hope approach when we got the ball, is not my idea of "trying for the winner".

Forest didn't really need to counter attack, as we gladly surrendered the ball to them most of the time.

I thought the ref was dreadful throughout the game.
PNE did ok against a very organised Forest side.

Hard to take that, good performance over 90 minutes. Lost two subs to injuries, lots of games in a short space of time. Second half 3 great blocks from Forest. Very hard to see any result from Wednesday, but it could be a classic 1-0 shitehousery.

I do think Forest are a much, much better side than Derby though and they made life very hard

Without Lolley and Cash, Forest were severely weakened, and we didn't really punish that.

We settled far too early for what we already had.

Let’s just keep a sense of perspective here before slagging off our players.....today for example they had 6m Grabbon up front and 13m Carvhalo on the bench.
We picked up Stockley from an advert in the Exeter local newspaper and bought Maguire from a bring and buy sale in Cork

there you go, thanks Joe, good stuff, difficult to gauge games but i think PNE were giving everything today, it was there last chance saloon and must win game, maybe we are better than the results suggest and how things seem

Does he have something against Forest? What could it be?

Reds v Swansea match comments.....

Well forest haven't guaranteed a playoff spot yet so they will be up for it, going to be a difficult game,  especially after the loss yesterday. Let's hope Cooper's motivational skills are better than his game management

Yes. but the pressure is all on them. they are the ones with the pack hunting them down.
It's S**t or bust for us. we've just got to go for it in these next three games

Interestingly if we’d drawn with Leeds (positive substitutions) we’d still be in seventh but if we had then beat Forest this evening we would be in sixth.
Restof Pablo’s post I’m not really in disagreement with but would be great to be in play offs.

even if we qualify for the play-offs there's still those three games to win to get to the promised land....I can see Brentford catch WBA....that in a sense is a far greater disappointment. it happened to Leeds last season, the choke. That must be horrific...which is why the pressure is off us. Forest look vulnerable...a bad run and they could drop out of the playoff places...so many permutations! makes the mind reel!

For those enjoying the championship keep enjoying !
Tonight Forest win 3-0

Good start. Ayew should have scored.
Good to see Wyndham back - who needs crowd noise.

1-0  Fantastic left footer from Brewster !!
84% possession

1-1. Cracking hit by Ameobi but should never have got the room by Grimes and big Mike to get a shot off.

Pelanty !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2-1 Ayew !!!!!!

Very lucky. Ayew was fouled at least a foot outside the box then stops totally in his run for the pen (even takes a little step back).

2-1 Swans HT. Deserved (just).

Blackburn and Derby's challenges ended yesterday. Preston & Bristols challenges just ended. Preston lost. Bristol drew at home. So 4 challengers down albeit mathematically still in. Just us and Millwall now.

Cmon boys get a 3rd early 2nd half. Then a 4th so Forests GD disappears and puts them in play for us

I didn't think that was a foul and it was outside the box. Still, we were the better side over the half, even though they have scored another.
Those 2 penalties of his involve him stopping on  his run up - what happens if he is "penalised" by the ref for that ? Is it just re-taken or do the defending side get a free kick?

Florets lucky to still have eleven on the pitch.

Lot more urgency and intent about Forest 2nd half

Amoeba equalizes again with a long-ranger. Mulder could have done better.
2-2

We r throwing this away, close that Ameobi down. FFS

Brilliant substitution Centre back for centre back, genius.

Forest looking happy with the draw

wtf a straight red for a tackle in their half and we had another defender coming on the player before he crosses the half way line. ref sucks

In the context of some of the tackles they have made that was a harsh red... ffs

well couldve been worse, at least we still have a viable path to 6th but Saturday will be it if we dont get the results we need ie Boro beat Cardiff and Millwall fail to win away in a london derby

Not one attempt on goal in the 2nd half ffs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good point in the end.
Keeps us in with a chance.
Boro need to be the Turds now as Hull are a shambles.

They are a decent side and wouldn’t be up there if they weren’t ... disappointed with the result but it’s not over... however fat lady is getting dressed and practicing the lyrics

No Kyle Naughton for the remaining matches either

Shame. He's been our best player in the last few games (apart from today's brainfart at the end).

Why is it when we more or less dominate a half, we can never ever do it again in the second half?

Unfortunately Naughton had to go - studs down the calf miles from the ball.

Turning point was when Bidwell put the ball on a plate for Ayew to nod into the net, only for him to try and chest it down and not even get an attempt on goal.

If we had scored at that point I think it would have sucked the oxygen out of Forest.

In fairness to Cooper and the team they gave it a good go and normally that would have been a very good result,

The damage was done in the lifeless and listless 30 games prior to COVID (and Luton at home) - not on the banks of the Trent.

Always the bloody same, maybe our opponents are able to change their tactics, whereas we can't or wont

Naughton will be back for the second leg of the Play off semi final ????

missed most of our best moments in the first half because of a shitty feed, but what I saw of it and the second half, shows what a very good side we are. I remember in the home game against Forest how Sami Ameobi was their most dangerous player by far and they played entirely on the counter attack much like Leicester, using him as an outlet with his big striding pace. We gifted them the points that day with another late goal, though we played nowhere near as well as we played last night. The ref was terrible last night. how many challenges from behind did Forest commit? the leading elbow of the player in the mask who thudded into Jay Fulton wasn't even yellow carded, and it was an extremely dangerous challenge. How the hell did  Figuieredo stay on the field? second half their manager had obviously told his players to rough us up. There were some wild challenges, two footed lunges. How many times was Brewster brought down from behind or Conor Gallagher? Shockingly bad. Naughts mistimed his 'cynical, taking one for the team' foul. I don't see raking of studs on the player...He writhed on the floor like the rest of the Forest actors....as soon as the red card came out...He was up and sprinting. If he was raked with studs as has been said here, then he'd have been off the field. There is no protection to the calf from behind....the guy made a meal of it. the partisan shouting from the Forest bench was sickening. They got Nauts sent off and SC was exactly spot on in his assessment in his post match interview.
The way we played on occasions last night was magnificent. Fabulous linking play in a real drama of a game. Of course you can't play like that every game....far too open to counter attack, there were so many forward in our attacks. But take heart, this is a very honest group of players. Really great performances right through the team. Special mention to Bidwell who was revelatory [ Ayew should have scored from his first opportunity where he had a free header 3 yards out and put it wide.] Jay Fulton had a great game too, but not one player let us down. I really hope we can buy Marc Guehi, brilliant defender. Nice to see Mike back, even half fit.
subs were brought on, which should quell all the criticisms on here and sadly they couldn't change the game. Easy to see now that fresh legs don't always mean improvement. Gelling and getting up to speed with the high octane nature of the game isn't as straight forward as some assume on here.
We still have a chance. every game has so much riding on it. That Middlesbrough v Cardiff game looks a tough one for Cardiff. They'll be nervous as hell and Warnock will be ready to exploit that. If Millwall win their last 2 they'll beat us to that last spot, but their football won't see them progress in the play-offs, or I would be very surprised. We showed we can match any team in this division. Whatever happens I think we have a really good team. Sadly we'll have to lose our loan players. But for the time being I want to congratulate all our squad. could have done better, but this league is tough and punishing physically. full of experienced pros and 46 games is a hell of a lot of competitive games.

Whatever the outcome now...I love my team. They've really done us proud....and also....some don't like Wyndham's commentary? then you're not Swansea through and through. Wyndham is a true Jack, a comedian and brightens up my day with his proud partisan quipping.

As Pablo said re: Figueiredo the ref was generous not to red card him first time..........but how he ignored two further fouls by him is beyond belief (or normal for the ******) refs we get.

First half we were especially good, and Brewster’s first time shot, on the half turn was class. How we replace his goals is another thing.

The change in system, and the subsequent upturn in our play, has changed my view on SC.

Players now seem to know exactly their roles on the pitch, with Roberts & Bidwell excelling. With the 3 at the back it gives you the option of overloads, that can be made in multiple areas of the pitch.

It also gives you more defensive stability, especially around the central area.

All this seems to give us more options going forwards also.

A lot of his football pre-change of system, was dire to watch, and I, like quite a few others have been quick to criticise him for it.

Why it’s only recently dawned on him that other formations and systems exist, when clearly 4-2-3-1 wasn’t working is baffling.

But credit were credit’s due to Steve Cooper, (and the players for adopting it so readily)
that we now look a far more cohesive unit, and it’s going to be interesting next season, if he’s been working with Andy Scott identifying new talents to fit this system

And just a thought, after having to suffer 90 minutes of constant manic rantings from their French manager, even SC’s silence on the line was golden {~:

Another good away performance    similar  to Middlesbrough  and Birmingham  started sharp   good passing and excellent  movement  , passing between  the lines and caused  them big problems  , we were so high  up the pitch Bidwell and Roberts  very good , Brewster top class goal ,

We should have scored another  2 , as someone  said they were lucky to have no one sent off , we got a bit lucky with the penalty  , but we deserved  some luck ,
Different  to Middlesbrough  and Brum they did have more quality , we were the better team first half they were the better  team second  half

The only trouble  playing at that tempo through the first half it's very difficult  to keep it going second half ,
Manager made good use of the subs , was looking for Celina to take the game by the scruff of the neck , sadly he didn't  ,
Naughton red card yes , took one for the team
To go to Forest , 5th in the table and dominate the first half shows the potential  of this team

2 wins and 2 draws from 4 away games shows this 3 centre backs suits our players , good team performance  and the players couldn't  give any more , well done

I noticed a couple of seasons ago in the transfer window Forest brought a ton of new players in. In the last 3 transfer windows 15, 20 and 17 incomings respectively. We are going to have the kind of turnover forced on us this year

100% right about Figuerado though. Did enough to be sent off twice! You know a ref is really bad when he is slated by both sets of supporters.

Barnsley v Reds Pre Match Comments....

Forest need a point at least tomorrow

that would confirm their play off place. They will field their strongest squad available. Wigan's impendig deduction cannot save us I fear . But it could save Luton

Need to beat Forest or we're down plus Wednesdays points deduction incoming we need to keep in there just incase

If Wednesday were to take a 12 point hit they would be confirmed as relegated.

It is just like us that both Wigan and Wednesday get their points deductions and we still contrive to be the other team that goes down with them.

Wigan squeaky bum time now. They are in the same position as us effectively. Only a win in their last game gives them hope of survival and it may not be enough.

I expect a Lee Bowyer love in at Bellend road and a Blackburn Beach party at Luton, god knows how we end up tomorrow our centre half’s have been the only ones on clear cut chances and contrive to steer the ball to opposition safety

Or into our net

I think there’s a pattern somewhere that’s needs addressing or turn the plan the right way up

No way will Wednesday get a points deduction at this late stage. If they were getting one at all it would’ve been announced by now. Looks like they got away with it as expected.

If they get away with it we should do exactly the same thing to exploit the ridiculously weak and unfit for purpose institution that is FFP. By which I mean, sell our own assets to ourselves.

If they get away with it the EFL should just scrap FFP and tell clubs to do what they want as they clearly have no intention of upholding their own regulations

Am I missing summat? Forest are in the playoffs, they need a 7 goal swing due to their superior goal diff over Swansea. Forest home to Stoke, Swansea away to Reading, none of them anything to play for. 1-0 to us will mean they'll need a 6 goal swing, so that'll do tomorrow

The goal swing would be some turnaround if Forest didn’t get in the playoffs now.
Let’s hope they play half hearted against us win an eye to the playoffs. Probably won’t though.

I presume we're ready to go with the fake 'Scab, Scab, Scab' etc crowd noise turned up to full volume.

To be fair I think it’s incredible that we still have even an improbable chance to survive.

I agree most of their younger fans wont have a clue about it but I have to admit the idea of them playing a Scabs chant through the PA at us is quite amusing!
