I didn't go yesterday due to some health issues, but again it appears to be another game gone where not one of the January signings contributed anything positive to win us the game.
When I look at the 20m we've spent on Carvalho, Jenks, Da Costa & Soudani, I really hope that this Summer see's our recruitment division given a good overhaul.
I'd have hoped we've had learned our lessons since the Carvalho days, but Bong's 2.5 year deal says we haven't learned a single thing.
Simply put the club has no idea what's needed to build a Prem side. All it does is sign players who tick boxes of having certain attributes (like Diadalek has pace). It has no clue about how suited they are for what we require, and seems to just throw players willy nilly at Sab expecting him to work miracles with them.
Alf with respect that is a load of rubbish. First of all we are in The Championship and have not been in The Prem under our current owners and set up so how does your first sentence in the text highlighted above apply? Secondly Lamouchi is part of the transfer team, it is ludicrous to suggest that the recruitment team are throwing players at him willy nilly.
Can we stick to the facts please and stop with all the fiction.
Because we should be looking at players who have Prem potential now. Players like Cash & Worrall. Players who Prem clubs would want, but aren't on their radar yet.
How many signings has the club made since EM took over? And how many of those signings would Prem clubs be sniffing round?
Folk cuss Fazza, but at least we signed Antonio, Geddy & Lansbury under him - all who moved to Prem clubs. Folk praise Sow, Ribero, Silva etc. - are any of those gonna be nicked from us by a Prem club any time soon like Antonio? Or are they average players who Lamouch is squeezing the most from with a very solid system?
Regards Lamouchi as part of the team, Anigo himself said........
“Each person has their job, nobody interferes in the work of someone else, so on that point, when you say to the President, or the Director General, or the Sporting Director, they do not ask how or why. “You assume your responsibilities. The flip side, is that if you are wrong, you will be fired.”
That doesn't sound to me like Lamouchi is involved much. It sounds like he's the coach, he coaches the players, and does what he can with the players which Anigo supplies/burdens him with.
Alf let me explain to you how it works.
Modesto and Anigo scout players then they report back to the recruitement team of Modesto, Anigo, Lamouchi, Dourekas and Vrentzos. Then they discuss the players and reach a conclusion between them, shall we make a bid and try to sign them or not. No one is being burdened with players, that is just your imagination. Once again can we stick to facts instead of fiction/fantasy.
Lamouchi will just be saying yes to any players in the hope that one may actually turn out to be decent.
In reality mate, it's generally all done via a bunch of agents & contacts anyway, and I'd be amazed if Lamouchi does much more than say what attributes etc. he's after.
However they do it, i'd very much question whether our supposed recruitment team actually watch these players. Mir, Muric, Bonatini, Bong and numerous others all looked woeful from the off.
Something needs a shake up. As The Jock says, the Jan window actually left us weaker with Chema departing.
Modesto, Anigo, Lamouchi, Dourekas and Vrentzos all sat down together after hours of analysis & discussions, and decided signing Bong on a 2.5 year deal was sensible? Righto lol. More like Lamouchi was busy trying to get the team ready for the congestive fixtures coming thick & fats, and the rest of them were doing anything but researching a clearly unfit & out of sorts player.
Whatever the crack, it needs addressing before we invest some real money IMO.
Chema was a quality player who couldn't head a ball at CH.
But more importantly, he was an unhappy players.
Yes. He was 'better' at LB (so he was playing out of position which is not what the club signed him for...) defensively but poor going forwards. So he really didn't make a good LB in terms of what we expect from LBs in the modern game.
So it's Academic that the squad is 'weaker'. If you have unhappy players the squad is weaker. So getting rid of him for 1.5 million made sound business sense.
Bong probably isn't match fit. And there has been a pattern with acquisitions....even with Car' after his injury and Sow too...that players are not rushed back to playing with this current footballing hierarchy. There's nothing wrong with Bong's CV. I don't think you can fault recruitment for that.
ergo.. They are introduced when they are. Fit.

Polls don’t really work when the same people are voting under differ user accounts though. As said on another thread I do believe some posters have more than on or two.
i would say that this jasper account is a dual and back up to another poster.
well that’s just the impression I get.
Just checked the IP address. Jasper Scarrott has only one account.
Your IP address is interesting Widdow.
I think we should get back on track now.

Alf & Widdow. We get it. We heard you the first time.
I like what Jasper Scarrott said. If it bothers you so much then take it up with the club directly.
Contact Marinakis and tell him, or tell the recruitment team to their faces. You will see them if you pop down to the CG.
1st and foremost, it's great that Sniffer Dog provides a platform that we can enjoy.
We may be squabbling over the 'ruins' of January's golden moment. But Forest are knee deep in trying to correct a high wages turnover whilst trying to improve the quality of the squad.
Therefore?
Recruitment in January is frustrating. We know it. They know it. Probably like The Coach (and maybe even recruitment) we are all frustrated in that we got what we asked for but not what we wanted.
January is about limited options. Recruitment under Marinakos are not going to over pay for unfit, unflavoured or injured players. It's about availability and no club wants to disrupt their season by losing their best players. Only the unhappy, unfit or out of favour players or returning loanees. :) And unless they have been out on loan they probably aren't fit if they haven't been playing.
January 'is' what it is. It doesn't make sense to bankrupt the club trying to alter the reality of that.
FFP reality is started to bite.
Recruitment DID bring in 2 strikers, a winger and a defender. But January is another 'pre-season' for those players getting them up to speed.
Sure, I'd have liked a ready made Sow replacement but (bite of reality sandwich for me) we had 1st team squad Yates who has done 'ok' to play there. Part of recruitment's clear philosophy to play Academy talent to augment the 1st team squad vs player purchases from outside.

Recruitment has Forest 5th in the table. And, at times, banging on the door to 2nd place.
That's an improvement on last year.
They did bring in Sow and Samba. They had a better window to bring in better players.

Why do you have it in for Scarrott and one or two others?
Just because they don't agree with your view and they don't fall into line with you?
Also look at your signature...

I don’t. Both you and him called me out after me making my first post in a week.
Seemed to have a go against my opinion rather than actually saying why the January transfer window was good one.
On the other thread I have always said plays offs at best after that poor window and it seemed more folk thinking that way now.
Now I simply posted about forest both on track to the threads they were in and then you go accuse me of not going to games. I have a nice photo of me with Hans Van Breukelen from saturday to prove I was there then
Also you suggested my IP address was interesting, interesting in what way?
As I’ve always said my signature is tongue on cheek, but it is my opinion.
As for Jasper I have been given the heads up he is an alter ego and why mentioned that

I don’t mind people not agreeing with me. I’ll either be proved wrong or right in the end. But no one was debating why it was good.
And I was joking about always getting it right.
I did get Sow wrong (well apart from him being susceptible to injury) he has been outstanding for me after I said in the summer why we needed another DM. He proved our important a quality DM is and crucial that he stays fit.

Widdow, it's no surprise that you have a reputation for being troublesome on other forums and have had numerous run-ins in the past. I will not allow this forum to go the way of the others, never in a million years.
What is that rubbish you wrote above? Only in your imagination did I accuse you of not going to games. What I said was pop down to the City Ground to have a word with the recruitment team and the owners, check back and have a look.
As for Jasper I am sure he can defend his own corner, he doesn't need me.

Some good balanced posts as always SA, esp the one previous.
The thing is, for me what's improved us so much since last year has been Lamouchi & the academy players, Cash & Worrall esp.
Sow, Samba & Ribero have definitely played there part. Recruitment have definitely done OK in the summer. Not great IMO, I think Sow is brill but too injury prone, Samba their biggest hit, & Ribero good but again a little fragile.
But Jan has literally see them make the same mistakes they were making before again at a key time. Unfit or unsuitable players bought in to no immediate positive impact what-so-ever.
My opinion of their signings would be as follows:
Sow - Hit
Ribero - Hit
Samba - Hit
Silva - OK
Ameobi - OK
Chema - OK
Mir - Miss
Bostock - Miss
Semedo - Miss
Muric - Miss
Diakhabi - Miss
Da Costa - Miss
Jenks - Miss
Adomah - Miss
Benalou - Miss
Bong - Miss
Pele - Miss
Bonatini - Miss
Milosovic - Miss
That's an incredibly poor strike ratio IMO. Not all transfers work out, but I think it's fair to expect a better hit rate than that.
Surely folk can understand why I look at that list and fear us selling the likes of Cash or Worral in the Summer, to only throw money on a whole host of misses again?
The decision to sign a clearly unfit Bong who's 32 in just over a month on a 2.5 year deal is baffling. By the time he's fit enough to play a full game he'll be ready to retire lol.

Way to harsh for me. I'd have 3 or 4 Miss max. Don't want to go through player by player as it's been done to death.
In the end of the day we fans have little or no influence on players in or out. The business side to football is boring, we are told so little information. We can keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best, but that's all. Our jobis to support the players who put on the Garibaldi and enjoy the ups and downs.
