No less than 3 points needed against Reading and minimum of draw at Luton for me. Honeymoon period well and truly over. Quite a disappointing performance last night. Yates has to start Sat and Carv needs an extended break.

MOTM voodoo strikes again, have we ever had a manager do well after winning it! We are having a blip. We will now see where we are compared to previous seasons where we never recovered.
If we can recover and get back on track then I have every hope for the season, if we can’t recover quickly then we’re looking at mid table once again. I’m hopeful that Sabri has enough to see us through this quickly. Just wish Daws was fit, a big mistake not getting a ready made replacement for him (leadership wise).

But contract talks are about as daft as sacking a manager after only a dozen games...
I repeat. To talk about extending contracts now is premature.
Let’s see where we are in say February...
I thought it from the moment people were suggesting it. The manager was happy to work under thr terms given so no need to change just yet. The best time to reward him is how well the team reacts to a loss of form. See where we are in Feb.

The only concern I would raise right now is that Sabri wanted the international breaks to work with the players but I can’t really see on the pitch what’s been worked on or improved.
We almost seemed better playing three games in seven days with no time to think about it.

I just got the impression that the fans, the players, the manager, the club, began to believe the hype and had 2 weeks thinking about how good we were. The manager gets the MOTM award, we're joint top of the league, easy games coming up, everything's rosy. Then we go to Wigan, the manager changes the team/formation thinking he's going to smash them easily because we're so good, and then what - we find out we're not that good after all and the good run was just a purple patch that's just fizzled out.

It’s obvious to me that he thought that the structure was tight enough to start to become more expansive. Teams have worked out that our full backs bomb on and wingers come inside. He didn’t react at all to McCann last night telling both Bowen and grosikski to leave their full back. We played into their hands and that da silva and Irvine had carvalho Lolley and Ameobi on toast. The long direct ball to the 4 forwards wasn’t dealt with and Worrall got bossed by donkey Mcgennis. Toral played the number 10 role with championship athleticism and dynamism that carvalho just hasn’t got.
It reminds me of pearces season. 10 -11 games then get found out for what we are.
Sow and Dawson haven’t helped.

I said that last night too, similar tactics to Pearce sometimes, direct cross field passes and lots of crosses that go nowhere as no one can cross it and Grabban can’t particularly head it!
Ironically whilst I didn’t agree with the formation change it did look better than last night and would allow carvalho to play in a position he is capable of playing. Problem is we have no one else who can play there as ameobi showed so that means we have to stick with 433 really

Hope we've learned the lesson from Pearce's season that the answer is better players to give us more options, not changing manager.

We're not 'so good' without Sow and Dawson. Even having Semedo as an option.
With the Wigan game, you had Sow, Dawson and Grabban (he didn't start) out. Not many teams can take the spine of their side out and still keep their momentum.

I thought that with the Wigan and Hull matches. Jack Robinson bombing forwards and being caught out. In the good run, I thought Rib' seemed better suited. Eg. The goal v Wigan, Jack is miles out of position so Worrall tries to cover and is MILES out of position.
It's happened a few times now with either Jack or the system that if it breaks down it's lead to 2 or 3 goals now.
If Worrall got bossed, I have to ask why 'monster' Milo wasn't alongside him. We now have no Monsters at the back. It seems like we've binned Big Ben and Milo as options. (Know Ben is injured....) But for me, not having Milo in the side has cost at least a couple of points.
Car' is getting his chance. It's up to him to show it. Car' was bought before the recruitment team realised this isn't Greece and that the Championship needs its own approach. And the includes players that are athletes who are dynamic. Robust. But can play a bit.
Have to say the midfield doesn't seem as combative without Sow in it. It's like half the page has been torn out.
And perhaps, like in Pearces season. Now we've had a couple of losses. We'll see what the Coach is made of.
But if you have injuries to key players. Does it matter? We're already starting to slide without Dawson and Sow. Forest have been here before.
