...and Forest generally don't let players leave for nothing now. If they can't get a fee then they seem to loan them out.

Buying players for a fee and letting them leave for nothing was just crazy and for years Forest did that.

Some of the work to bring in keepers and then flip them for a million or so profit shows Forest are boxing smarter in how they do their transfer business. They even sold that Rangers winger we had to Swansea for a decent fee.

They may not have got a fee for Cummings yet? But he's out on loan again. And any contribution to his wages means Forest are losing 'less.'

Tremendous work being in the quality this Summer. But the exits business was just as remarkable.

Forest have kept the best of last season's recruitment and added to it. Coupled with the stirling work of the Academy and you have a Forest side Forest fans should feel proud of.

Worrall and Cash flying the flag (with Yates on the horizon.)

Watson and Dawson great experience and reforged in youthful fires and purpose. It's great to see that happening.

And plenty of plays in the 'prime middle years' rather than too old or too young as we had at times under previous managers.

Two injured RBs? Np. We have Cash who is adopted there. Great lad. Great Attitude.

The blend of the squad is right up there with the best coffees now. WBA have Premier money. Leeds have been coached longer. Fulham are just down from the Premier.

In context? Forest are mixing with the best of them. We'll see how things go over Oct, Nov and Dec though.

We'll know more of how close we are then. But so far it augurs well.

Start of the season I said we were better balanced but weaker, looking at it now I'd say we're batter balanced but, being honest, not that much stronger in terms of personel. Sow & Colback is much of a muchness and the frontline is too. GK is the only area I'd say we've definitely improved, Ribero looks a great buy but Robinson has been fine too, and I also think we've lost more than we give credit for in Osborn & Appiah.

The real revelation has been in Mouch getting the most from players already here. Cash, Daws, Worall, Watson etc. All players who were availble last season, plenty of which many would have been happy to have had bombed out.

Twice now I have had to agree with much of what you posted Alf. I remember stating that I wanted to vote don't know. 
The truth is odd. Watson has been collosal this year, where as last year he was in and out. A fit Dawson has made a big difference  (up until his injury of course). Where I do disagree is that I think we jave a significant upgrade at Left back. Robinson is ok and last year was good. Riberio looks the business (so far).
I also stated I would wait until end of December before I fully passed judgement and although I feel stupidly optimistic by recent standards,I stand by this....too many false dawns.

I think Ribero's been great, I just think Robinson's done well too and - given what Mouch has done with the likes of Worall & Cash - there's no reason Robinson couldn't improve just as much too. But yeah, nice to be in general agreement and aye, let's see where we are end of Dec.

Players like Carvalho are what make the cost of a season ticket worthwhile. Remember the rubbish we had to endure before we signed players like him.

He's hardly played lol :D 

Seriously, the lad has a touch of top level class and I get where you're coming from, but this year I don't think he's done any more than the likes of Adomah tbh.

Carvalho seems to be still recovering from his injury but can still produce the odd moment of class which makes your jaw drop. Let’s see how it goes with him, he may be the one player that Sabri can’t work his magic on or he may fulfil his potential and become a legend who knows?

Our transfer window in the summer is shaping up very nicely thank you, usually it turns out to be disappointing but this season I’m delighted, all seem to have settled in well and apart from Mir and Muric (the former not really having had much of a chance yet) are bringing something to the party, hopefully Mir will prove to be effective too.

Delighted for Watson, a lot of us thought he would be playing his football at the bottom of the league or L1, how wrong we were I’m happy to say. He’s like a new signing and I’m delighted for him. Yes the squad is far far stronger this year, at last a manager who seems a perfect fit for our club.

I don't understand why teams going up don't keep the "core" of the winning squad after promotion, certainly for the 1st year. Just add 1 or 2 max. I think we are a long way off thinking about it yet, let get to Christmas, then Easter.......

I hope the lad comes good but he plays like a striker with no confidence, that final chance when he was played in by Bostock and he just lashed at it suggests to me that he doesn’t even believe he’s going to score.

Think today highlighted that again. Really not happy that Lamouchi is having to reply on players like Bostock, and can't rest Grabban against a bottom 7 side without the quality drop off looking so massive.

The strike force weaker but I have no problem releasing or loaning Walker, Cummings and Murphy.

The one player I would have kept though was Soudani. I think that was the mistake.
