The 2019 Summer Clearout

Whilst we a reaching for the prem we are not going to blood kids that aren’t absolutely top drawer. We have cash, Worrall and Yates in the first team alongside Johnson with the squad. A smaller squad being supplemented with academy players is what we should be doing. Walker should have stayed too.

Walker needs a full season in League One, keeping him here would have stunted his development.

Today's news interesting, if anyone cares this is how I view the recent sales.

Murphy: Never let us down, helped us get to mid table after nearly going down. Always gave 100%. Grateful for his contribution and wish him all the best. I think he will score quite a few in league 1. Verdict: In  the context of Britt going for 15 million at the time, a decent signing.

Liam Bridcutt: The oddest time at Forest. Genuinely have never seem him have a bad game and that includes his Brighton days where he was the main man. Again, best of luck to him, no idea what went on behind closed doors but purely from a playing perspective he deserved better. Verdict: overall though not a successful signing.

Jason Cummings: Something of a natural goalscorer who, if rumours are to believed alongside the stuff we know to be true, is completely wasting his talent with his total lack of professionalism. Hope he is happy to live off his time at Forest as that is as good as it will get without a Lazurus type conversion. Verdict. Epic fail.

Appiah: Not being wise after the event here, but I felt he had great balance and quick feet, but lacks explosive pace, end product and though only 18, lacked a bit of strength. In his own age group he looked very good for England though. I am 50/50 on whether this will come back to bite us. I haven't seen Mighten play, but he is by all accounts rapid with many of the other positive attributes Appiah had. £8 million is alot of cash for an unproven 18 year old though. Verdict: NA as home grown.

Gaby: We took a punt on him from Chesterfield and it didn't come off. Not good enough and reportedly earning over 6k a week. Good luck to him. Verdict: Poor signing

All in all, 4 decent earners gone (though clearly at a cost) and a big chunk of cash in for a non playing youngster. Whichever way you look at it, the academy has brought in another 10 million  this last 6 weeks.

In theory, yes. But if Brice got a long term injury, I would be very worried with the young City lad between the sticks.

Im only guessing but I wonder if Clough has some non football related issues. Hugely disappointing yes but I would cut him some slack, you never know whats going on in peoples lives.

That's fair enough, you obviously have your reasons. For me though, my reasons are purely from a footballing perspective. Pants is our 2nd best keeper, so should get the nod if injury puts Brice out for any length of time. Bench warmer is irrelevant as keepers are never subbed. Only red card or in match injury forces the bench warmer onto pitch.
I like Smith, but he was Stags second choice last term in league 2. Muric scares me at every corner. 

Ideally Brice stays fit to make this a moot point.

Next summer Forest will have a squad of 16 players baring any contract renewals.
If the don't sneak a promotion this year it has got to be automatic the next with so much room for maneuver.

Yes, there is clear signs of progress being made.

At the end of next summer we will have the quality of squad and the quantity of squad that we want.
