Window Closed, Bigger Squad But Is The Club Serious About Promotion?

I am happy that the new manager has got some players he wanted/we needed. I'm trusting these were not all dof choices.
What I'd like to see is in Jan if we aren't in top 6 it's not the manager but the dof that's sacked!

OOOMMMMGGG it really is depressing reading some of this. So we have signed some unknown (to us) players. Just because we don’t know them doesn’t mean our manager or scouting network don’t. We have signed a lot of players but our manager stated he wanted players, stronger and more technical and we have that.
The problem here is that we have signed players who fans don’t know. The myth is that only proven championship players will make it in this league this is false. Now we could have gone out and signed Gayle at the start of the window, paid £10 million for him and £60grand in wages but that would have been a huge amount of our budget and we wouldn’t have got players to cover other areas. That £60 grand in wages covers at least 5 of our New signings.
The market in England is broken. Signing quality proven championship players costs too much now unless you have parachute payments. The manager wanted strength in midfield and he got that. However, if we had paid colbacks wages we wouldn’t have signed other players. And we would be stuck with a good player who is suspended every few weeks. The opinion of the manager and those above was that the squad last year was not good enough by a long way and needed to be changed.
We need to calm down we have had a decent window we now need to let the manager do his thing. If we lose on Saturday it is not the end of the world (although I feel that it will be to some of you). None of us know how all of the signings will turn out so let’s not pretend that we do. This is not football manager We can’t just go out and pay big wages.
I know someone will come back with the quality (how do we know the players we have are not quality)not quantity but again, the manager was not impressed with the squad and wanted the changes. 2 or 3 quality (in our opinion) players would have left us a long way short of what the manager wanted. I also know that most of this will fall on deaf ears as many have already written off the season, burned their season tickets and thrown their shirts in to the Trent.

Honestly, reading some of then stuff on here is no different to being on Twitter.

That is not true, it's just the same 3 or 4 posters constantly moaning and beating the owners at every opputunity. The majority are behind the owners and will SUPPORT the new players who have been bought into the club.

I don't even think it's people bashing the owners SD. Marinakis kind of made a rod for his own back in his interviews. Of course we want to get promoted - every team in the championship does - but we all know how difficult it is. The amount of money spent and the profile of player brought in doesn't necessarily match with what Marinakis said. It did so more last season, but we can't go on spending at that level every year.

I just hope he doesn't take his own words too literally and give Lamouchi the boot early on if we don't get off to a flying start, because if he does we'll be back to square one again. I have a good feeling about Lamouchi, I don't know why, and I hope he's given the time to stamp his influence on the squad. Hopefully results from the outset will be good and he'll win himself that time.

I like the owners and i especially like the work they are doing to the club. So far i've been impressed with what the new manager wants us to be like and I will also support the players when they are on the pitch but i do think the window has not been a great one and that the players we have bought based on what we have seen so far over pre-season and the first game have not strengthen us. So i have real questions about the recruitment team and that they still do not understand the league and actually how difficult it is. I still stand open to having my mind changed on this btw.

SD, If you read my post it was a balanced argument. Anyone who doesn’t think we needed another striker then simply have head in sand. Club obviously wanted one but didn’t back it up with the required investment

who says I wouldn’t support them, I do week in week out 

We said we would review the window at the end and that’s what I did. Many agreed some didn’t

also, looking at the forum you’ve actually started at least two threads questioning how the club was run
silence is defeating and out recruitment policy was knocking Club more than my posts.

Just because I don't like our recruitement policy I am not going to beat the club with it or dismiss every signing we make as being the cheapest option and shit. Nobody is perfect not even EM but he doesn't deserve half of the shit he gets thrown at him.

I am still waiting for someone to come up with names of a striker we could have signed, who would have been happy to have been third choice and who would also have to be a world beater! Any ideas? Do people really beleive that the club didn't try to sign a striker? Of course they did but who was willing to come who fits the discription that I mentioned above?

Fans were living in cloud cuckoo land if they thought we would sign a quality striker to share the load with Grabban - why would such a player sign for an average club in the championship on those terms?
Best we can hope for is Fraizer Campbell or equivalent.

Sniff, that's a bit harsh if you don't mind me saying so. The owner stated what his expectations are and I measure everything that happens against that. Hence my criticisms of this summer's transfer policy.  Had he said take our time, build a side etc etc, then there would have been less criticism and we would've all got behind that I'm sure.  And also, surely you cannot say, hand on heart, that someone at the club has not made a huge error by letting strikers go out without securing adequate replacements? The net result is that we are relying on 2 strikers to play 50 odd games, one of whom has struggled with a reoccurring injury (which was overcome by pure rest) and other who's a young lad and a relative novice. That can't be right, and as confirmed by SL earlier, it was a situation that he didn't want either.

Anyway, the window has now gone and at last we can concentrate on the football. I'll be completely behind whoever wears the shirt.

IMO all would've been within our budget and been good additions.
