Our Recruitment Policy

In other words he is our Scandinavian scout and Tommy Johnson is head of scouting?

That would make sense. I cannot find anywhere that Hunt has left the club but I really don't know.

Maybe, just seems strange that he was definately head of scouting on the OS until recently

I will dig a bit deeper and see what I can find out, it is a bit of a mystery.

At the start of the window we needed to plug holes, RB LB keeper, 2x CM, winger, striker.

In a week we’ve done most of that, keeper sounds very promising, others we’ll wait and see but without spending big fees seems we’ve tidied the squad nicely.

Now just sign a striker for a decent fee and I’d say this will have been a pretty strong window

Just as long as Lolley stays - and we successfully move on some of the driftwood.

Please forgive the following rant but with Dourekas and Modesto lurking yesterday I have a question for them. Do we actually have a recruitment policy?

38 1st team squad members
9 central midfielders, none of whom appear good enough to control a game.
6 central defenders, none of whom are left footed.
One right back who is injured
4 goalkeepers all of whom look dodgy
2 recognised strikers one of whom is a kid
No real pace anywhere in the squad which showed yesterday.

With 38 players that means we are paying 20 of them who aren’t involved to sit on their arses every week. Lets average that at £10K each would mean we are paying out £200k a week for players who are not even on the bench.

A number of people on this forum have correctly said we cannot compete with teams with parachute payments and that we need to have realistic targets, we cant afford £40k for Colback etc. That is still true but surely we could put £200K a week to better use, the maths is skewed I know but it could be 5 quality players instead.

Of course a lot of the issue is historical, we are paying for the poor decisions of previous regimes. However we seem to be repeating the errors all over again. We havent gone out and recruited 4 or 5 proven players which was the consensus we needed at the start of the summer. We have instead effectively a whole new team which with a few exceptions are unknown quality and unknown whether they are suited to Championship football.

If they arent up there who will get the blame? Dourekas and Modesto? Or Lamouchi? We know the answer already, if we arent challenging by Christmas we will have a new head coach who will discard another load and bring in some more probably sub standard players and the cycle repeats.

Sorry, I know its early days but I have witnessed and paid to watch 20 years of mostly rubbish, It just seems like no lessons have ever been learnt.

I can understand your frustration Salvatore but Modesto and Dourekas have only been in the job since January.

It's going to take more time than that I'm afraid.

That’s not true though.

How many many players have we signed since January?

We shouldn’t be bringing players in for the sake of it, particularly if they are no better than what we’ve got.

One window is enough for Modesto and Dourekas?

Who said that?
