Our Starting X1 2019/20
So, we are now down to the final 3 - 2 winger and a central forward:

Let's start with wingers first. He we find our big superstar. Lolley must be the first name on the team sheet. He is usually on the right-hand side acting as an "inverted" winger to great effect but he is also allowed to interchange with the winger on the other side and thus adding a bit of unpredictability to the side which can cause havoc for the opposition’s defense which only increases if you have full backs contributes in the attack.

On the left side we have some options. The most obvious option is Adomah who has a lot of experience. He played in most of Aston Villa's games last season starting in 24 of them and making a sub appearance in 15 matches. It is a bit disappointing that he only managed 4 goals and 2 assists considering how much he played. The positive thing for me is that he's very much prepared to help out defensively and I do also think that he's well suited to the 4-3-3 formation. Biggest drawback for me is that he doesn't have that all important pace.

Adomah's first challenger for the jersey is Amoebi who showed good form at struggling Bolton last season. Sammy is technically good, but he too is lacking that extra bit of speed. It will be interesting to see if he's able to force his way into the starting 11.

One that has some of that necessary speed is youngster Appiah. He is only 18 but is showing great maturity in the pre-season games already played. I wouldn't be surprised if Appiah would slowly play himself into a starting place at some point during the season.

One other candidate is of course Cash who played as a winger last season but early signs points to him being retrained as a FB. It will be interesting to see if Cash will be considered for other positions a well besides FB.

A can also see a scenario where Sari is using Carvalho as a winger in a 4-3-3 system.

Rumors are saying that we are to recruit 4 or 5 new players and I really hope that 2 or 3 of those new players are attacking ones with some real pace. That could really make the difference between top 6 and top 2.

With the players we have now I believe that the 2 starting wingers will be Lolley and Adomah but we could easily see a pairing of Lolley and Amoebi for the first game of the season.

The central forward will be Grabban as I don't see Walker as a serious challenger yet. We will most likely see 1 or 2 new CFs coming in hopefully before the start of the season.

From what I have seen from Appiah he is a long way off being ready for Championship football.

As things stand the front 3 picks itself. Lolley, Grabhan and Adomah.

Well, that's the obvious combination but let's see what happens. It could still be one or two twists and turns.

Probably the most experienced and capable front three in a long time.

I just hope Grabban is 'on it'.

His body language doesn't look great at times.

Thought a few people have said that’s just how he is?

Indeed. If anyone's read Michael Calvin's excellent "Family - Life, Death and Football," in which he was allowed total access to Millwall for a season, they'll have realised that Grabban's been like that from the start of his career.

So to summarize, what do we need?

Keeper: Covered (Muric, Pants, Steel and Smith)
RB: Missing 1 (Darikwa and Cash)
LB: Covered (Robinson and Ribeiro)
CB: Covered (Milo, Worrall, Figs, Ben and Daws)
DCM: Missing 1 (Semedo, Watson, Yacob and Guedioura)
CM: Missing 1 (Silva, Carvalho, Semedo, Guedioura, Johnson and Cash)
Wingers: Missing 1 (Lolley, Adomah, Amoebi, Appiah and Cash)
CF: Missing 2 (Grabban and Walker)

RB: Ideally, we should go for a first choice player here. For me Zeffane is not the answer as I can't see that he is a significant upgrade on Darikwa. Would be great if we would go for a player like Robert Gumny but probably not very realistic. I did however see us linked with him somewhere.

Any other candidates?

DCM: We need another DCM with playmaker attributes. As I have said before I would very much like us to go for Massimo Luongo. Another potential targets are John Bostock and Younousse Sankhare but both are more suited to playing as CM. Maybe Krystian Bielik would be a good acquisition. He could also fill in as a CB.

Any other candidates?

CM: Luongo, Bostock and Sankhare can all play as CMs.

Any other candidates?

Winger: We really need a winger with speed. Lolley with just that little more pace. We were linked with a Swede earlier in the window. Hosam Aiesh I believe his name is and he does have that extra speed. Other than that I haven't seen us linked with a winger with real pace. One other wingers we have been linked with are Kamil Grosicki and Callum O'Dowda

Any other candidates?

CF: Ideally I would say that we need one target CF and one with speed and movement as main attributes. A target CF we have been linked with is Bjorn Maars Johnsen. Any other candidates?
The quick and tricky CF could be Matej Vydra who could also fit in as a winger. Dwight Gayle is another one but I would prefer a similar type of CF with just a bit more pace.

Right, would you agree that he should be classified as a target CF?

Is he any good because i can only go on the write ups on websites and i've not found anything which would make me jump for joy. Seemed was good then moved to Fulham got injured and then has never been able to get back to what he was, and is now on a downward spiral.
