Asking for a friend.

Yates played substantially better alongside Watson.

I thought Yates looked lost when Ben wasn’t alongside him.

Answered the question right there.
Watson & Yates together in our midfield - a massive no from me.

McGovern was playing in one of the best teams in England and Europe. There’s no comparison.

That's not what I said, I stated remembering watching McGovern as his legs had gone and that the football had passed him by, and watching Watson reminded me off that.

Watson isn't the player that he once was. And furthermore what has the team that one player was apart off got to do with it.

Once a players legs have gone, they have gone, and that player needs moving on, you cannot afford to keep a player on because he's good at keeping about the place, unless they intend to move him into the coaching staff at the club.

We need leaders in our team and Watson is that, we then only have dawson and robbo. I'm glad hes staying, great example for the younger generation.

Yep.

What we gonna get for him if he leaves? Nowt.

He's not up to playing many games for any top 6 side, but as someone to bring in on the odd occasion to help cement the team & provide an experienced influence he's ideal.

Also, we've been playing a 4-1-4-1 which requires far less forward movement from the defensive 1 too. In that role & setup Watson's weaknesses aren't as exposed.

Good old British pro who gives is all, or do we just want young inexperienced players from abroad?

No one is saying that he is going to play 44 league games!

At times last season he was poor but at other times like at Boro away he was immense.

I agree with the above. The young lads from abroad and the young academy lads in and around the first team squad need the likes of Watson around them.

It's not just about what Watson does or doesn't do on the pitch.

This ^

We need to have some experience and know how around the squad.

We shouldn't underestimate the importance of that.

Not been the best window for outgoings (or stellar incomings) but luckily still Europe, league one and two and Scotland still have the rest of August to do transfer deals so let’s hope they take some of our deadwood
Everyone is entitled to my opinion - COYR  :)

When you look at all of the names on that list, it surprises me that the club are struggling to move them on, I really hope that Yacob stays, I cannot understand why on earth are we keeping Watson over Yacob.

Yacob looks quality to me when he plays but both AK and MoN didnt seem to rate him.

Maybe he just doesnt put the effort in in training.
