Perhaps the club has learnt a lesson about employing managers/ head coaches whose style differs massively from the players at the club? Houghton's style of football is closer to MON's which, on evidence, didn't work with the players we have. Obviously Mendes will have recommended Lamouchi but I would hope people with knowledge of football within the hierarchy at the club (mainly Modesto and perhaps Karembeu) will have looked at the style of play he employed at Rennes and gave him the green light based on that. It's what we should've done when Karanka was sacked instead of hiring MON, which was imo not based on footballing strategy at all.

Agree with this PS, we could have given Lamouchi the job in January, he would have had nothing to lose for the remainder if last season, learnt about the Championship, his squad and what was needed this summer. Instead he is thrown in at the deep end, no time to build himself and we all know that unless he hits the ground running his job will be in danger by the end of the year.
Hindsight and all that but yeah MON was probably a mistake.

The problem there is, that's £500k we can't now use towards a player, as it is half a mil closer to the FFP milestone.

Hmm what do I think of the new manager? Well to be honest I have no idea. Based on what has been put out there about the guy then I would say he could be good for us. Talks about him having a good defence but is not all about not conceding goals. He is very much about wanting his players who can run with the ball to run and those who can and are willing to try penetrating balls to try to create as many chances as possible. Lots about him wanting players to not pass the ball for possession sake by to try to pass more difficult balls to drag the other team about the pitch to create room elsewhere on the pitch. Players talk about him instilling confidence in them to try things without the worry that they will be disciplined if it doesn’t work. Be sensible at the back and play when you can and don’t when you can’t. Players to use their judgment on the pitch and make the right calls.

All sounds very European football for sure and would be great if it works but we all know it the championship can be very full blooded and in your face and forest can not afford to lose that edge as well. Going to be a very interesting season I think and we can only hope that it works out for the best.

maybe didn't want a sacking on his cv. hes got plenty money.  the man causes trouble wherever he goes.
