If we go 3 at the back they can both play a big part as wing backs as well as covering numerous other positions between them.

A squad needs to have one or two of these type of players.

i totally agree, solar power, free of charge, no cost and we need energy and legs and blockers, classy additions will make these guys along with Worrall, Appiah, Yates and others better players or put them effectively into the shop window, for now keep and hold out for top dollar though ideally Cash and Osborn .. keep, Cash could potentially become a very good player and assett, definately open to significant improvement and Osborn always gives 100% and can do a variety of jobs and cover huge amounts of territory

This is the last I am saying on the matter because I want this forum to concentrate on football matters and not petty infighting, there is another forum for that sort of stuff. Next time there will be no post from me only action.

GreenMan stop bringing your political shit onto the forum. It's not the first time is it? I remember your backing of NG3 when he made his stupid democracy rant a few months ago just because he didn't agree with a change I made on the forum. Look where he ended up...

Right, back to football.

I thought that was pretty obvious. Generate more money towards upgrades. Having Osborn at left back is like saying Rob Rosario could play as a striker.

How are we supposed to be competitive with ffp and have a squad full of the list of names i mentioned above that may prove difficult to get rid of when needing to raise funds. Do we sell Lolley, Carv, Alvin or the likes of Osborn and Cash?

Selling the odd academy player works more favourable when complying with ffp so it's a no brainer for me knowing we can blood fresh kids.

Just out of interest what makes you think that we have to raise funds?

I also wouldn't want us to sell Cash and Osborn, they are valuable SQUAD players.

Anyway we have raised some funds from selling Tachstidis, more will be raised from selling Ansarifard and hopefully from the likes of Cummings and Bridcutt etc. Not forgetting we only sold Brereton for 7M a few months ago.

Agreed Duncan. We didn’t spend nearly as much as some ( Pulis for one ) would have folks believe last Summer.
The nett spend last season - when taking accounting procedures ( purchases spread over several years ) are taken into consideration - was nothing out of the ordinary for this division. People focus on Grabban & Carvalho, ignore the cost being spread, conveniently forget outgoing players & believe everything that comes out of the mouths of our detractors.
Not saying that Marinakis will go crazy but he is so much more savvy than Fawaz and will not have splashed all his cash in year one.

The owners know what they are doing. Giannis Vrentzos is very good with money. He hates to see it wasted and not to turn over a profit on a player. I will stick my neck out and say that if one or two of our better players are sold it will be because they want to go not because we need to raise funds.

Yes, this club without the likes of Trevor Francis would be an absolute nothing club today. Respect please.

Chill the f**k out for Christ sake.

Remember it’s all about opinions.

There’s quite a lot on here who hate it when others don’t agree with there opinion and are very easily offended by the terms dinosaur and comedian.

Our squad doesn’t need a massive overhaul(a lot of deadwood getting rid of yeah), but only 5 quality signings needed so therefore Francis is very wrong.

Green Man, i would advise you to say whatever you want say, i'm aligning your username to the green top Cloughie used to wear, regardless, i doubt you would enjoy reading derogatory posts about Cloughie.

It seems we are at a stage where everyone associated with NFFC is fair game for abuse, the only exception being Cloughie, it is ok to use 1 word put downs to sum up iconic legends.

i would prefer true fans to maybe take some time out to step back, try to dig deep into your soul and find something to like about M o N particularly while he is our manager and the wide appeal of having R K alongside

There are so many amazing things to learn from M o N and R K, facts and experiences we can enjoy due to the fact that everything for them started here, it's not just about the incredible success either or absolute zero to hero and sometimes back to zero again, or we could talk about the failures, the picking themselves up, they feel every goal conceded like a stake through the heart, they have experienced huge amounts of pain and setbacks, even so they have both lifted won the highest honours in England and Europe as well as countless other over achievement. They both have something, quite alot, i don't think their agenda is to bore the f**k out of Green Man for every minute of every game.

RK wants to stamp on the head of players who make a mistake, they lack effort or skill it is like they are screaming in his face that his mother is a whore, he struggles to reign it in, he really does, but he's a bit older and alot wiser, but he knows he is nowhere in relation to M o N in becoming one of the most accomplished, overachieving managers during the last 35 plus years

Even Cloughie didn't manage to win 25 consecutive games or get as many promotions with differant clubs or set out on as many European campaigns or be associated with Forest to the extent M o N has

Green Man, if you can enjoy being a Forest supporter more and enjoy what we have and where we are starting from now you can help me and many others to enjoy being a Forest supporter.

The fact is, it is impossible to win any argument on any forum, noone will admit they were wrong and noone will ever thank anyone for making a case that their icon and hope has flaws that should be laughed at, as if blindingly obvious and needs to be highlighted in a succinct put down.

So many positives and such a solid foundation to have so much to look forward to and so many past achievements and excellence, lets all try and raise our game.

TF scored an iconic goal, that's different from being an icon himself.

very good point, that goal, i like Trevor but he makes me feel a bit sad, even when he has been good at doing what he does he doesn't seem confident about what he is doing, having said that his ego never gets in the way as a result, having bits of media and a column in the paper, maybe alot of his relatively successful career was probably built on that goal, i don't particularly follow Trevor and not an expert in any way but i wouldn't really describe him as a comedian

thoroughly decent sort, not totally Forest though, in fact certainly a Brummie and 2nd allegiance probably to Sheff Wed.  When Trevor talked about the old days in a few documentaries about the Cloughie days, he made me feel so sad, when Cloughie told him not to go to the 2nd European Final he seemed so hurt, genuinely.  Cloughie gave some very strange orders but if Trevor not being their, in some way, contributed to winning, maybe Trevor is more an icon for his total non contribution in the 2nd final or being anywhere near the vicinity.

I mean, your statement though, i guess i agree to an extent already in that excepting Brian Clough it is open season on being ok to diss, trash, insult, take pot shots, label and generally make fun of anyone, so by default, even if you have 2 European cup winners medals and a League Cup and a Super Cup, you aren't an icon,  R K achieved virtually nothing with us and won the PL 6 times and European Cup 1 time with Manchester United, yet he is probably more iconic.

In a few years there won't be any Nottingham Forest European Cup Winners left, on that basis, why not view them as icons, just for a while because it is too late to show appreciation when they are gone, they can't hear you talking them up or singing their name on their birthday.

I never really believed TF was truly happy in the garibaldi, but as an ex player who did what he did of course he gets my upmost respect. So does MON and all of the MM.

Does not mean however I would want them all to manage us.

We have been down this road so many times PSP. I truly hope that this season is ours and MONs, it would be incredible.

I have decided that you are right, if only for past achievements the manager deserved time and respect.I promise I will not at the first run of bad results jump on the MON out bandwagon, but I do fear that a lot of fans will. Really really hope that the club gets this transfer window right for everyone’s sake.
