That sounds like progress to me.

I’m getting tired of the Karanka v MON arguments now tbh.

Like it or not he is our manager for the foreseeable future, I’ve put the disappointment of last season behind me and am now looking forward to seeing what the new season brings.

I hope we get off to a flyer and at least for the first few months not have to discuss the managers job security.

i hope martin gets it right this summer. if not could see him gone after 10 games.

Yep, if we have a poor start he's in trouble.

Hope.he gets his toes in the premier loan market, add some real quality to make a difference. And obviously quality signings. Progress from this year we can dream cant we?

MON knows his onions, don't worry about that.

Reflecting on the season as a whole, I think it has to be viewed as a big step forward. A bit more luck here and there might have seen us scrape into the playoffs, but in truth our horrific December (on and off the pitch) gave us too much do in terms of injuries, form, morale and points lost.

AK did ok overall, but we were struggling for a month or so before he jumped ship and MON has now steadied the ship which I firmly believe will be upgraded and sail to promotion next term.  Frank on the other hand will be just another rat jumping off his sinking ship....

Personally I think AK is one of the worst fit of managers we've ever had.

He did OK, he's not a bad manager by any standards, but his methods are geared towards a club with an owner like Gibson who is prepared to constantly back managers with money & time, and cycle players too. We aren't and haven't been this decade. The new owners have done nothing to show that they're any different.

We simply cannot afford to employ someone who relies on a "put in or your out" philosiphy, as we don't have the FFP freedom to replace a player every time they stop putting in.

We need a man motivator who makes the best of what he has, and in MON we've one of the better ones IMO. When he included Yates over the like of Geddy last season I was well chuffed, as it showed we can instantly trim a load of bloated crap from the squad like Bridcutt, Geddy, Tachy etc. & not be any worse off for it as we finished in our highest position in 6 seasons.

I think this past year was poorly planned and will have really set us back financially, and that we'll need a manager who'll be able to make something fro the scraps that are left when we trim the squad. MON is as good as we'll get for that.

Very much still up in the air for me. I have to say I give very little weighting to the last two games given the opposition and also our actual performances. I felt there was some continually questionable team selections which frustrated many fans.

Mitigating circumstances with the grabban injury and lack of backup I will agree on that. I do want to give the manager time to learn the squad but on the other hand with FFP we only have a limited window without parachute payments. We’ve finally actually got the makings of a good team for the first time in years. Feels like we’ll be back to the beginning if we fail to challenge next season. Surely can only keep lolley so long etc. So big season, everyone is aware, MON desperately needs a good start!

A good start is vital, lose 2 or 3 out of the first 5 games and he will be gone, Marinakis will not wait until Christmas to make a judgement. Not sure which way it will go, Martin has not done enough to convince me but I hope that I am wrong.

EM needs to wait until season end to make a judgement for a change the premature ****.

Villa were 10th when AK "left". Why can't we for once be owned by someone who recognizes promotion happens in May, not Jan.

The only exception should be a genuine relegation battle.
