Thought I’d look at goals/assist stats for other similar players as his production has been criticised.

Carvalho - 2272 mins 4 goals 6 assists
Grealish - 2247 mins 4 goals 5 assists
Norwood - 3222 mins 3 goals 8 assists
Mount - 2347 mins 5 goals 3 assists
Brownhill - 3168 mins 3 goals 2 assist
Howson - 3223 mins 1 goal 5 assists
Gallagher - 2058 mins 6 goals 7 assists

Tried to pick what looked like the most comparable player in each team, can’t say I follow these teams enough to be certain I picked the right player but I feel it proves the point.

How much do people think grealish and mount are worth for example?

Interestingly, Tyler Walker scored 4 goals in half a season under Warbs, playing a lot of games in wider positions.

Now dare i suggest we recoup what we paid for Carva and give our own players who cost £0, and have scored 20+ goals this year in a lower league,  a chance?

Tyler has to be given a chance.  Given we've had a injured 'star' striker, an aged super sub...then Tyler would have been the legs in-between this season.  20+ goals.  If it was anyone else we'd be saying take a punt on him before someone else snaps him up.

Pre-season with the young guns along with Yates, Appiah, Worrall.

Ha so the resolution of this is Tyler should be given a chance?! You know carvalho is pretty young right? Maybe give him the same respect as the others. At this point it’s all about his value, not convinced he’s worth any more or less than ourother academy prospects at thus point. 

I do agree in MON’s tactics it’s hard to see him building the team round carvalho but at the same time we’re not going to get 13mil back. Can’t see us  getting a big fee so might have to find a role for him.

Happy to give both a chance, but there's not 13m worth of investment tied up on Walker, there is in Carva.

The club needs to be able to fund signings for next year, and selling Walker would fetch a relitively small amount, whereas Carva could still fetch a fair amount based on reputation & odd flashes of brilliances alone. A top foriegn club isn't gonna come in for a striker who's done well at Stags, whereas one may fancy Carva as an option for the future at 8-10m (doubt we'll get 13 for him).

Like I say, I'm fine either way, I just find it funny how Carva is veiwed as the answer to all our problems from some quarters, yet those same quaters would shout anyone down who suggested Walker may be worth another look.

In terms of goals contributed there's certainly very little between them, and Walker scored as many in a worse team & playing largely out wide. Whilst Carva's quality is there to see, we really shouldn't be building a club around 1 player who doesn't really fit into the system we use. At best under MON Carva always be in & out the side until he grows in presence.

Watching Tyler over the last couple of seasons, I am sure he has a solid future in the game, what level? Time will tell. He certainly takes a good pen and works hard too. Carvalho is a class act, but has dipped since late November, understandably in the circumstances. The stats posted above are interesting, though as mentioned earlier in the thread are only a part of the story. For instance, watching Villa with and without Grealish is chalk and cheese. He is the heartbeat and makes them tick, with so many simple passes and flicks etc. That said, there is nothing that Grealish does, that Carvalho can't and with pre-season under his belt a year older and wiser, he could potentially (and there's the key word) do similar for us. He works hard enough and clearly has the skill and talent. Grealish is the most fouled player and gets most touches per game I believe in the Championship.
Basically, I would love to see both Tyler and Carvalho doing the business for Forest over the next few years.

So why not give Tyler a run up top with Carvalho playing in the 10 position? 

Providing Tyler has learnt the art of holding up play, a relatively lightweight front two would not be too much of a problem because that would be compensated for with pace. Couple those two with Cash and  Lolley and the pace going forward would be electric!

I’m never convinced by his first touch- I think playing wide gives him an opportunity to run into a poor touch. Think in the middle his touch isn’t close enough and would get pickpocketed.

O agree Ozzy. I remember when Cash first burst onto the scene playing in that roll. He looked really good and at what point even Chelsea were sniffing at him. I doubt they are sniffing at him now!

Agree with Audio in regard Cash .... I had high hopes for him at the start of the season, but as a young player he didnt improve at all. He keeps falling on the ball (never seen a player at this level fall on the ball as much as him) and he is so predictable that an average defender can keep him at bay.
In short I have to say that I am dissappointed in how Cash is turning out... if he continues like this he will drift in the lower league as he is nowhere good enough to be in a promotion chasing team...

At the very least, Carvalho needs to be in shop window-starting today!!

An 8 hour round trip for me and Garibaldigirl today. Had been hoping for a raucous full house roaring us on to playoffs when we got tickets. Now, just hope to see a win and some decent football along the way. Whilst I back MON, I would like to see Carvalho, Appiah and Lolley on pitch, probably Byram too. Garibaldigirl would like to add Cash to that for non footballing reasons. Other than that, not fussed. 

Game is definition of an end of season dead rubber, so maybe entertaining as both teams have little pressure. I remember a 5-3 v Oxford backend of 88 season after fixture backlog due to Cup runs. More of the same......if only.
