I don't, we've had a decent explanation for his absence

João António Antunes Carvalho, sorry, i'd forgotten his full name, he's only 21, he's a huge investment, if he doesn't get opportunities it would only be because we are smashing every team we come up against, which is unlikely, I think we will see a better player when he returns, difficult to back this statement up other than his birthday is 1 day before mine, I want him to give me lots of good reasons to send him a card on March 9th for his 22nd

Following O’Neill’s first game in charge, he talked about being bullied. Next game we had Watson, Colback and Geddy in the centre of the park. Many moaned about that combination but as far as I was concerned it was eureka moment. Game domination comes from the centre of the park. Ball winners, all three of them. Get control of that department and we’re in business. Get domination in midfield and get our defence back then we really are in business and for sure the goals will come. I don’t think there is much wrong with this squad of players and boring as it was, Karanka s squad and tactics was taking us in the right direction. In my opinion, O’Neill is a superior manager and can take us further with the same squad of players. Karanka s 5 or 6 game sulk has cost us quite a few points but play offs is achievable especially as we all know, a few players will be added before thursdays deadline.

Just watched that. Keane gives it to you straight. You're left in no doubt what he brings to the club.

Very fond memories of Forest. Speaks highly of Brian, Forest, Pearce, Des and our strikers from back then.

You look at the achievements of MON and Keane. It's the dream team.

If the Forest team aren't inspired by that they want to change their jobs.

A few players, work hard and a bit of luck...

Great interview with Roy Keane on Notts TV well worth a watch.

Might explain why we are going for the more experienced target.

On a purely MON Vs AK debate, I think MON is in a different league to AK as a manager.

Like all managers he'll need tim eto shape the team, but if he gets backed as well as AK we'll have as good a shot at promotion as we've had since Supa Billy Davies.

Agreed.

I dont get the negativity surrounding O'Neill.

I must find out the odds for him getting Forest promoted in the next two seasons. Ill have 100 quid on him.

All I can think of is folk looking at the Ireland & Sunderland jobs, and deciding they weren't great so he'll do poor with us. I mean, who wants a manager who kept a now L1 side in the Prem or was managing internationally eh? :D

MON's appointment really sorts the wheat from the chaff to me. A man who's record is great, Sir Clough's only real outstanding student, someone who's achieved for us as a player & someone who personally has been described to me as "the best manager they've worked with bar none - got an extra 50% from you" by players who worked under him.

What's more, MON's percentage football style not only lends itself to success at a cheaper rate than the likes of AK, but IMO it's probably the most guarenteed way to get out of this league. When MON has had some more time and has a few more players he needs, I'd expect his teams to play somewhere between Billy's & Bassett's.

Folk talk about "attacking", "defensive", "passing", "direct" styles etc. Well the best way out of this league is to bully your way out with a strong, unified team complimented with some skill & a killer-clinical instinct. And that's what's MON's all about.

Amen to that.

Excellent points.  Plus 1.

Fed up of Forest getting bullied.  I was very happy with the Watson, Colback and Geddy line up.  Made a massive difference.

Games are won from Midfield.

There's no reason why he shouldn't. I know a few people have pushed a narrative that Martin is an agricultural manager who prefers lower league cloggers to skilful talented players, but I'm sure some of his former players like Gary Cahill, Jan Mølby, Steve Guppy, Stiliyan Petrov, Stan Collymore, Emile Heskey, Henrik Larsson, Chris Sutton, Juninho, Craig Bellamy, Ashley Young, James Milner, Gareth Barry, Fabian Delph, Jack Colback or Louis Saha wouldn't class themselves as lower league cloggers

Exactly.  Point made.

We have now lost more league games (6) post Aitor than when he was here.

In those six games we’ve lost to Reading, Bristol City, Stoke, Birmingham, Villa and Rotherham.

And we still have six games to play.

We lost 9 games under Aitor last season, which is the fairer comparison.

What AK spent on the squad this year was to shape HIS squad. MON hasn't had chance to do that yet, and - like AK last year - picks up the peices of the previous managers squad.

We also finished 17th too. Somthing I doubt MON will do.
