He knows it isn't though surely. How does one team miss 7 big chances in one game is beyond me. We've also missed the most big chances in the league this season with a total of 17.

You read that two ways 1) we are creating enough chances to win games and it isn't about systems and 2) our finishing has been awful and that won't necessarily improve.

Both can be true and it's why we need to stick with it. Today wasn't about an amazing goalkeeper but poor choices and lack of composure.

On the leadership issue you can be supportive of mgw's leadership and captaincy and critical of the lack of leadership on the pitch. It isn't one or the other. Personally mgw is a great leader - never ducks from responsibility, never looks to hide when things are going badly and always wants the ball. My feeling is that when things are going wrong he will probably try too hard to personally make things happen and I think that comes down to the others. While the captaincy is Gibbs white, leadership is needed across the pitch. The best version of MGW is the version where he has got other leaders around him. Anderson was not a shouter but he led on the pitch through organising those around him and putting in the yards. Milenkovic is a key figure at the back and we miss his presence. Murillo has struggled without him. I feel at the moment MGW is feeling the pressure to do too much and so he isn't as effective.

Ultimately we need more players to take on those key leadership duties across the pitch - not just rely on MGW

We seem to have accumulated a number of "fair weather players" as they seem to perform when all is well but disapear when backs to the wall, oh for the second comming of Phyco!

Always amazes me how many people can't spell Sico.

Laugh out loud

Good post Plymouth it's a team game and to many of this squad seem to hide when things are going pear shaped on the pitch, MGW may be all the things you and others say but just sometimes you need that rocket up your arse, he is not that person and it would appear neither is OG. I will make one observaton from todays game, CP had a corner in the 2nd half we are already 3-1 down, Wood has been on the pitch for about 5 mins, MGW is standing marking his man and just staring at him, Wood on the other hand was instructing all around him who to mark and where to position themselves, not a word fom MGW he seems to go into his own shell when the chips are down. I just think its in his DNA. Release him from these duties and just let him play with freedom, ANO can then give him a bollocking when not performing!

For anyone who didn’t see the gluttony of missed chances today, here’s a clip with all of them, probably better than MOTD:

They say good slapstick comedy is hard to make. Those people have never seen our forward line.

Needs some Benny hill music playing in the background

Apart from the header that should have put us 2 up i agree.

Just been watching the highlights on the train back and his header was harder than both the ones afforded to Delap and Wood, and he worked the keeper harder than both of those.

He should have scored , the others were easier agreed . Shit finishing all round unfortunately.......again.

Taken from X, might make some reconsider where blame (if any) lies.

The biggest xG chances in today's match per @SportingLifeFC:

? 0.57 - Delap 35' (save)
? 0.49 - Strand-Larson 59' (save)
? 0.47 - Strand-Larson 8' (save)
? 0.43 - Wood 80' (save)
? 0.35 - Khalaili 45+4' ⚽
? 0.35 - Pino 59' ⚽
? 0.34 - Kamada 41' ⚽
? 0.33 - Delap 40' (miss)
? 0.29 - Munoz 27' (miss)
? 0.27 - Ndoye 45+6' (miss)
? 0.19 - Khalaili 74' (miss)
? 0.17 - Ndoye 21' (save)

Palace created 5 of the game's 7 biggest chances.

Sels made some good saves as well as letting in some he shouldn’t. Forest defensively left a lot to be desired and actually we could have shipped more than 3.

None of that excuses the wasfulness of the chances we had.

Not doubting that - we looked like we would concede at every opportunity. We were disorganised at the back and wasteful up front.

I know I’m not gonna change your mind Orbz but I don’t think he could have done much more with it.
