The Premier League

Listening to a lawyer earlier on this, and if that route is pursued it could take 5 yrs !
They actually think they are above the law. This could well take down English football. Imagine if they win the league this season

I’m sure I heard someone mention that any sanctions have to be handed down this season.

Any appeal against the decision will be decided by January at the latest and similarly quickly if they appeal the actual punishment. Wasn’t it the same for us? I’m sure we got a quick decision so everyone knew where we were for the run in.

No idea how that fits in with any high court appeal but I would think that would be for retrospective adjustments (ie compensation) after the fact as the sporting body has to apply its rules within it’s own constitutional timescales. So, hopefully, that would mean tough titty on them.

In the Telegraph about the Anderson deal.
Newcastle were desperate not to fall foul of PSR

Newcastle initially tried to do a swap deal for Anderson involving Anthony Elanga, but Nottingham Forest refused. They offered a deal that ruthlessly exploited Newcastle’s desperation. They would sign Anderson, but only if they agreed to take a back-up goalkeeper Forest no longer wanted.

The value of the transfer was £35m, but Newcastle were paying £20m for the Greece international Odysseas Vlachodimos. Forest were, in reality, only paying £15m for Anderson who they sold for £116m to Manchester City this year.

When Eales got off the phone, hugely relieved to have secured the money, he had to call Forest back to check which goalkeeper they had actually signed before confirming the deal with Howe and the rest of the board. Vlachodimos is Newcastle’s most expensive goalkeeper, but he made just one appearance in the Carabao Cup and has been sent out on loan to Sevilla.

Seems like opinion among the other clubs is hardening against Man City. Lots of reports that execs of other clubs don't expect them to be in the Premier League next season.

Chelsea / Enzo Fernandes
Us / Elliott Anderson
Everton / N’Dye and Grealish
Spurs / Savio & Marmoush
Leeds / Trafford

Some weird deals there

Trafford I think Leeds paid through the nose, and with Anderson he certain looked a £116m footballer over the international weekend. We've just got value.

One thing, Man City's main defence seems to be that the state and their owners are different entities, so the over the odds sponsor cash is valid. But, when the independent committee found them guilty after the EPL investigations over many years, the state start threatening withdrawing investment. So IMO they're acting like they're acting together, which is what the investigations and leaks pointed to.

I hope they haven't bought votes, wouldn't surprise me. The more I think about it, the more I think they have tarnished football in this country for well over a decade. Even if they stopped in 2018, they reaped the benefits from when they were. And suspiciously their revenue didn't drop then so they've probably found another way possibly injecting additional finances still.

The Premier league and it's chosen broadcasters like to tell us repeatedly that its the best league in the whole. Time to start acting like it.
If the fans/viewers no longer believe its a fair competition then what's the point of supporting/watching.

With the Anderson deal I was thinking more around the payment structure.

Bournemouth allowing Jordan Henderson to score after 60-90 secs

And now it’s 2-0
