Vitor Pereira - Our Manager

Not sure about the all key players, pretty clear Anderson is going.

The thing with Vitor, just my opinion and sorry if it annoys anyone, I have a feeling we will give him a new contract…….and in December we will be looking for a new head coach.

It is a perfectly understandable point to make about VP, particularly after what happened at Wolves.

I am not sure that taking his CV at face value paints an accurate picture of his abilities, certainly not without digging a bit deeper.

I would forget what happened at Wolves - I do not think he was solely responsible for their poor transfer dealings - there would have been a number of people involved - besides that, he will not get sole say in who we sign, no manager will - I see a scenario as described by Reds 73, input but little control.

There appears to be a train of thought that he is not particularly good at getting teams playing early season; the detail of his performances at previous clubs tell a totally different story.

He has had a few poor seasons and ended up getting fired, just like most managers have, but there is nothing from his past to suggest he will not get us performing.

I like the fact that we have got the manager situation sorted early and can now focus on getting players in.

The big difference is.......

Nuno - had some players sold - did not get the players he wanted - sulked - toys out of pram - runaway getting sacked for his petulance and bad behaviour.

Vitor - had his best players sold - did not get the players he wanted - tried his best with what he had - got sacked in the end while trying to perform a miracle. Wolves have done no better when he was sacked.

Vitor shows loyalty and gets on with his job. Nuno shows disrespect and wanting to run away when not happy.

It’s a fair opinion, and not overly controversial.

Yeah not entirely sure we needed to give him a longer contract. It'll be nice to have some consistency for a change though. Hopefully a calm summer will allow a good start.

Contract renewal in December would surely be the better approach? (even October would do it)

I’ll be interested in vitors personal analytics in conjunction with the sports science and stats guys. No doubt he knew if he did a good job he’d stay on so hopefully he has copious notes on every player and has already been working out what to do in the summer regarding giving players his preseason to evaluate. I’d like to think he hasn’t bombed anyone out just yet

Now being reported that Ruben Amorim will be taking the Benfica job. Wonder if that makes EM think twice over Pereira?

I am not convinced that VP is 100% staying.

Likely but not nailed on just yet.

I know it's harsh as he's done well in keeping us up bit if Marco Silva wants the job I'd choose him. That's just me.

Whatever is decided it needs to be done quickly. It's no coincidence that our best season since promotion was the one where we had the best pre-season preparations.

Good listen from Morgan - Saying we have the right manager now and we will see the real Vitor tactics in Pre Season. When Morgan is backing a manager it's positive.

Me too although I am still not 100% sure that he is staying.

Lets see what happens at the meeting towards the end of next week.

Do you think EM/Edu have other ideas or do you think Pereira isn’t convinced?
