Champions League - Europa League - Conference League
Before we played them I said to friends that I didn't mind Villa at all and I would be cheering them on in the final if they beat us. But then we got Emery's histrionics re Anderson's tackle and their totally appalling approach in that Spurs game while we slugged it out down at Chelsea (which resulted in our team on the Thursday being completely compromised).

That Spurs game approach by Villa has completely changed the relegation battle. It gifted Spurs 3 points that day and piled pressure on West Ham. Those 3 points will be the difference between Spurs staying up and getting relegated. What Villa did was criminal and I hope one day a club does it to them.

Oh I'm not desperate for them to win but I won't be annoyed if they do like I will be if Villa - and for that matter Palace - do in their finals.

And Pap - yes agree with all of that.

Villa are a good club,95% of there fans are decent too, don't be bitter and let a minority of the fan base forget what villa are as a club. I for one hope they win it, its always far better getting knocked out by the eventual winners too.

I wish them the best of luck tonight. Enjoy Istanbul and lift the trophy.

Nothing their fans have done make me want them not to win - for me it's 100% down to how they treated the Spurs match. It helped them knock us out of the competition and could have got us relegated too.

We treated the chelsea game exactly the same mate.

Football is about fans and moments. Villa deserve there moment in my view and im not going to begrudge them of that.

We didn't have that much of a choice. CHO, Murillo, Aina, Ndoye and Sangare were all injured anyway.

Emery shoved two fingers up to the league as well. Ok, the actual team he put out v Spurs should have been perfectly capable of being competitive on the day, but he sent them out with no intention of competing in the game. They were dreadful and Emery just stood there on the side lines like a statue and watched it happen. After the appaling 1st half they came out in the second half and were just as bad. And Emery made no meaningful subs to try to change the game. They players had clearly been told to lay off the gas, not get injured and cruise through the game unscathed. It cheated all the other clubs fighting Spurs down at the bottom. It was a simply dreadful thing to do.

But the team we put out went to compete in the game. Villa showed no interest in the result of theirs. While our star man was getting injured trying to score a goal, Villa players like Tielemens and Rogers were jogging around and pulling out of tackles with the intention of not getting injured.

Worked though, we sent MGW into the game to work hard and it probably cost us any chance of winning that second leg (and maybe his England spot). It did secure us safety though.

Yes it worked but that doesn't make it right. This goes back to my earlier points of self-interest in the modern game. Do you think Cloughy would have tolerated a performance like the one Villa put in? No way would he. He'd have more respect for the league and more respect for the clubs affected. I remember back in the day him berating our fans when we were singing to Stoke fans that they were getting relegated, such was the respect he gave to his fellow pros back then.

Roles reversed, I think I'd of been ok with it if it meant we reached the final...

Got to look after yourself, not Villa's fault there are too many matches. I'm sure there were games that fell nicely for West Ham too in terms of playing team after Europa games etc.

I doubt there has been an instance this season where a team West Ham are playing has not been interested in either the result or the level of performance.
