The Premier League 2025/26
Hopefully it works out as well as the last high-profile managerial appointment who had to be persuaded to take a job mid-season...

Apparently hes only lasted more then around 18 months at 2 of the 8 clubs he’s managed they being 2 and 3 years respectively. 5 years!! He’s had there pants down

Not really Fewman, if Spuds are relegated the cost to them in income (one season) is around £300 million. I think the odds have now shifted in their favour to stay up, we must concentrate on ourselves which VP has stated many times in the last few week. Try and get a win over Villa and follow that up with another against Burnley and a point at Sunderland, then hopefully relax!

Oposition is growing among official Tottenham fans' groups to Roberto de Zerbi being named manager because of his controversial support of Mason Greenwood.

The Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust held an emergency board meeting on Monday night and has now contacted the club to say it cannot support the appointment.

The group told BBC Sport.

Just imagine if Spurs lose at Sunderland which is very possible and then go a goal down at home to Brighton the following week.

The atmosphere will be toxic.

It's a very risky appointment in my opinion.

5 year contract?

Madness.

I think they've identified their man and have gone all out to get him. Its a bold move, having sacked 2 managers this season already. We'll find out if it's madness or genius over the five or six weeks. The five year contract just means the payout is greater when they sack him in the future. They're a rich club, they'll be able to do that.

I think his abilities are questionable. Was he that successful at Brighton?

Weirdly I would have said De Zerbi was a much better fit for us than at Tottenham.

It's a risk but given the alternatives seemed to be Redknapp, Hughton or Sherwood (or keep Tudor) it feels like they have done well. This felt like the best available move for them at this point, it did really feel like they were trending down. The chaos he will bring might just be enough, combined with a few players returning from injury.

I hope it goes the other way personally!

I would definitely say West Ham's game vs Wolves next weekend is the most important, if they fail to win that they really haven't got any obvious wins after that.

I think both Hughton and Potter were just as good at Brighton if that helps.

His record when taking over mid season is not great at all, the immediate impact has never been visible, it takes time for him to get his methods across. They have 10 days now to prepare for Sunderland.

His points per game in all his jobs mid season averages 0.5 points per game across the first 7.

When I was speaking to a spurs friend of mine I said all they had to do was match West Ham’s results.

Does de zerbi work ultra hard on the defence? Over 5 prem games they conceded 13. 2.6 a game on average (4 if you add the UCL games)

Not advocating for them but it does feel like they have to forgo the pretty stuff for the last 7 games and grind out narrow victories and keep clean sheets, so I can see why dyche was mentioned.

They were scoring nearly a goal a game under Tudor (1.5 with the UCL games)

There is the 11 goal difference between them and Wham which helps them, but do the players want to scrap it out?

I assume today will be de zerbi’s first day, Saltor was at Brighton as a development coach for a year whilst de zerbi was there I wonder if he’s training them in a certain way? Anyway they have 9-10 days left before Sunderland does he have them training everyday?
