We are here for the Forest.

EL is the second biggest cup competition in Europe and the winner even goes into the CL.

We have spent the last 30 odd years yearning to be back in Europe.

So stop pretending it doesn't matter.

Because it does matter and it matters a lot.

Not sure anyone is saying it doesn't matter, Europa League is everything for us this year. I said we should just play the first team yesterday and secure that top 8 spot.

The post was more of a mitigation in general that its just really hard to manage both competitions and that there are too many matches really. You rotate and you play terribly, you don't rotate and you get burnt out and end up playing terribly later on anyway. You need those squad players to step up to manage it and they haven't.

Exactly thats why I mentioned the previous clubs who got Europe first time and struggled. Villa had a £100m warchest top iirc.

It is worth pointing out this is only the 2nd season where you don't get the CL teams dropping down, not to mention the extra CL teams so the Europa is a lower standard than it was previously, meaning it is very much winnable but you do have so many games to play compared to previous years. The fact its easier means more likely to play more games too!

So anyone know the format for the next round? It's it just a set bracket from here now? So as it stands we'd play Plzen and then Lyon if we got through? Big incentive to still win next week then to get as high up the table as possible.

Cheers, definite incentive to try and win the last game then and avoid Villa/Lyon

Unless anything changes it's either Panathanaikos or Fenerbahce. That's about as tough as it gets from who we could've got. At least the second leg is at home.

Either of those are two good games.

Looking at results we really want Panathinaikos over Fenerbahce

Yeah agreed, they seem clearly the weaker team. Fenerbahce feels like a tough draw.
