Brighton good performance- bad result. Wolves bad performance good result- Everton - shocking performance - poor result. Leeds and West Ham getting points in games we thought they would struggle has heightened this.
If we swapped Liverpool and Everton results around - would we be in a better frame of mind?


We need to get some more points and quick - whatever way we can. We will get some players back soon which will help I’m sure. Neco needs a rest - so too MGW and Ando. Jesus has done OK - but zinchenko and Luiz have quality we have missed - I don’t buy too much into zinchenko slating as he has quality. Wood ? s anyone’s guess when he is back but need him. Kalimuendo will play Europa games in the interim. Mcatee is the one I am most pissed off about as I just see Zack clough. We should have got better for the outlay.

Last season we over performed, since Nuno has gone we are playing below par in relation to the quality of player we have.

There’s definitely a player in Mcatee. My Man City supporter mate at work waxes lyrically about him.

Im not yet of the opinion that we recruited particularly well in the summer, £150m on 3 wingers and 2 forwards none of whom so far (I emphasise so far) look worth what we paid.

Jesus looks a bargain at £10m but as Ive ventured before not convinced he quite has the quality needed at the highest level. That isnt a criticism of him.

Not every signing pans out and not every signing pays off straight away. 
Add in signings having to fit into a struggling side and a change in play style for what they were originally bought for. 
Think our defensive signings feel like afterthoughts and Luiz isn’t fit enough for a season in the Prem. 
but at the moment I think our injuries are hurting us more. 
But all in all I don’t think we are as good as I thought we were. 
And everyone else has made good signings as well. 
I think we’re a good mid table quality side when fit. 
I don’t think we are a bad side but the prem is full of good sides this season. 
I’m not sure there are 3 ‘worse’ teams/squads than us at the moment especially with all the injuries. maybe, just. 
I don’t think the league table is lying.

Agreed, but it can still be a successful, enjoyable spell. Get us up the table and if he could win the Europa, he leaves with a trophy, is in the record books and we’re all winners. We’re 4th favourites for the Europa for what it’s worth.

We will never know but I doubt Ange would have relegated us.

He made a damn good try of it with one of the richest clubs in Europe. 
But for what it’s worth I didn’t think it would be as bad as it was, thought the problems would really kick in end of season/next season.  
Is there a sliding doors universe where we get the fourth goal at Swansea, don’t let a stupid goal in at Burnley, Wood’s header goes in against Sunderland, hild on against Betis? 

Still make you own luck and all that.

I've thought this a lot too, we created a lot in those early games, if we'd been just slightly more clinical I suspect he'd still be manager. I also imagine we'd still be conceding from corners, have a bunch more injuries. The style was unsustainable and once he started with that bizarre 5 at the back system which he had no idea how to use (and had admitted so previously), you could see it wasn't going to work.

He's obviously not completely terrible, Spurs finished 4th in his first year. The thing I think that did for him was not sticking to his guns ironically. Against Betis, he found a perfect setup that suited our team with MGW right and CHO left in a 433, after Luiz got injured I'm not sure he played that again despite its success.

I don't think he's a good attacking coach but he can definitely coach a good defence and build from there. I think this is his big chance with a decent albeit probably overrated, young and injured squad. I don't agree with him being not good personally, he does need to adjust to the extra matches that we're playing which he hasn't done very well really so far. Needs to rotate more and get the most out of the squad, Jesus and MGW shouldn't have been on the field most of 2nd half when the game is basically gone, for example. They need rest, same with Ando.

Anyone at the Brighton game see Mcatee's quality cross into the box just after he came on? There is definately a player there. Just looks Alloof and has MGW in the way.
