Certainly much better than Elanga used to.

I dare say that he could even be used as a full back in an emergency.

I put that on the other thread, he plays wing back for Switzerland. He is big enough to do the job needs to apply his physicality a bit maybe but could be done.
Both wingers last night did a decent job getting back when needed.

I thought N'Doye was pretty average going forward, most crosses were easy to defend. He looked fast though and good on the ball and his defending looked really good. Dyche came out praising CHO defending after the game too. We know Dyche values defensive abilities in his wingers so feels like these two will be the locked in starters when fit and not requiring rotation.

But I would have taken 2/10 and a flukey win and we got back some of the luck that seemed to have deserted us too. VAR calls may have been correct but I very much doubt the 2nd pen is awarded in the PL.

As has been said Savona grew into the game well, needs to adapt to pace of PL now, MGW far better, whole team played together which has been sorely lacking. Any media who says we played Dycheball didn’t watch the game because we controlled it for the most part similar to last season, evolution of last season’s tactics is exactly what we need.

Most importantly we feel part of it again, its more than just getting a win, we have the connection with the team back and thats huge.

We did play it forward long a lot aimed at N'Doye and Jesus, not sure that was overly effective as a tactic as Jesus didn't win too many of those, think N'Doye was better at that actually. I thought the style was tailor made for Wood though when he is available, wouldn't be surprised if Jesus ends up playing out wide too.

What I meant was we controlled midfield and didn’t play low block. Agree we went long more often but many teams do now. I said it yesterday, when Liverpool do it MOTD calls it beautiful long range passing.

Wasn't a criticism, thought it was quite effective as a way of getting everyone up the pitch quicker, I liked it.

If anything was more thinking that if Wood was there instead of Jesus it would be really effective.

And seemed to be chucking stuff at T block when they thought they had scored.

I saw on the highlights a few of them giving the finger to the lower BC which made it pretty funny when the goal was overturned.

:Funny:

Their keeper ran out of his goal celebrating, came back to get his drinks bottle just as "VAR checking possible offside" came up on the screen. He really got it in the neck from the Lower TE  :Up Yours:

Douglas Luiz was superb in the middle yet again

And think, that Nuno bloke refused to play him.

Zinc will get better, he has had a long time away from playing regularly.

Dyche has got off to a good start, and long may it continue.

Nuno didn't refuse to play him, he just wasn't fit enough.

Hence, Ange also didn't play him first game.

Haven't read the thread yet, so apologies if I've just re written what others have said!
Thought we controlled the game. Don't think anyone had a bad game. The midfield dominated and the defence were solid. I think that's the hardest I've ever seen CHO work. He was up and down and getting stuck into tackles. Jesus, MGW and Ndoye all working equally as hard.
I don't think they had a clear cut opportunity from open play?
The fans were great again. I think it showed that after they scored, our fans turned it up a notch and really tried to rally the team, even before we had the divine intervention from VAR.

This thread is surprisingly quiet!!

Terrible signal at the CG...  :Funny:

Good performance that, listened to talk sport on way back callers were saying what I've read on here, it's like getting the team back. It's what they know, what they're good at and with the crowd backing them full tilt. Some excellent celebrations for winning throw ins was a sign this team were up for it last night and fed off the crowd.

Of course there are minor irritations, Zincenko was defensively poor and I'm surprised Dyche on cked him over Savona who had a good game. Savona is tidy on the ball tbf to him, can get out of a tight spot when required and of course win the pen. Did look a clumsy dive to me and those around me but it's probably cos he's a lanky guy, haven't actually seen it yet. I do hope he gets a run in team now.

Ndoye is so weak at times and you do have to remind yourself he's not Elanga when he doesn't beat his man for pace. A really poor ball when clean through 2nd half, however the last 15 he dug in and battled and was bloody good. Maybe just taking time to settle. Talking of clean through, obviously CHO missed a huge chance.

Little bits those, ultimately our first clean sheet in 20 odd games and a huge win against a proper team with European pedigree. Great start for Dyche, the next game is a big test to see if they can match that intensity away from home.

I thought NDoye was fantastic personally, had their full back on toast numerous times, I don’t think his crossing was bad, just that they defended well and were good at getting bodies back to block crosses (the options in the box at times were limited).

He also puts himself about a fair bit.

I do hope fans give him a fair crack, he’s a decent player.

I thought he played well too, against a team that does not give up many chances.

I'd say it's given every single time, kicked out once, then a 2nd time to make sure was crazy from the defender as stone wall as you'll ever see.
