Nottingham Forest - Porto

What a night! Exactly what European nights are supposed to be like. Take a bow Sean Dyche and his team. I have traipsed thousands of miles since our last win and truthfully did not expect to see such an instant impact.
MGW back to his brilliant best, new lads all looking much better. Back 5 all superb (including sub).

CHO doing a decent impression of Robbo shuffling down the left wing, Odoy looked very good.

Special mention for our incredible central midfield pairing who were superb. Porto were very strong and surprised me with their physicality and athleticism, but Ando and Luiz matched them and showed so much quality.

This game was a joy to watch compared to the recent absolute dross. EM and Edu may have made a massive mistake in appointing the useless  self centred egotistical Aussie, but they've acted quickly to correct it.

Fans were excellent. A blocks rendition of -"Dont worry about a thing, cos every little things gonna be Sean Dyche" was absolutely brilliant.

Forest are back.

Got the buzz last night that has been missing way too long, coming down to earth I thought we were good rather than fantastic, probably 7.5/10. But I would have taken 2/10 and a flukey win and we got back some of the luck that seemed to have deserted us too. VAR calls may have been correct but I very much doubt the 2nd pen is awarded in the PL.

As has been said Savona grew into the game well, needs to adapt to pace of PL now, MGW far better, whole team played together which has been sorely lacking. Any media who says we played Dycheball didn’t watch the game because we controlled it for the most part similar to last season, evolution of last season’s tactics is exactly what we need.

Most importantly we feel part of it again, its more than just getting a win, we have the connection with the team back and thats huge.

Hats off to their fans last night. They brought a decent number and made a racket through a lot of the game.

And seemed to be chucking stuff at T block when they thought they had scored.

I saw on the highlights a few of them giving the finger to the lower BC which made it pretty funny when the goal was overturned.

Really enjoyed last night and thought we got what we deserved, though would have been nice to score in open play.

Curious about the pre match build up no pyrotechnics / lights out etc last night - is that not a regular thing for Euro games or was it a one off last time ?
Here we go.....

I only got to see the first half but waking up to see the result is a buzz in itself. So good to see a thread full of praise for the team. Really pleased with what I saw in first half and a real base to build off.

For Porto i thought Victor Froholdt looked very good for 19 years of age. Their best player with Varela.

Notable mention for Nico as well, always giving it 100%

This thread is surprisingly quiet!!

Terrible signal at the CG...  :Funny:

Good performance that, listened to talk sport on way back callers were saying what I've read on here, it's like getting the team back. It's what they know, what they're good at and with the crowd backing them full tilt. Some excellent celebrations for winning throw ins was a sign this team were up for it last night and fed off the crowd.

Of course there are minor irritations, Zincenko was defensively poor and I'm surprised Dyche on cked him over Savona who had a good game. Savona is tidy on the ball tbf to him, can get out of a tight spot when required and of course win the pen. Did look a clumsy dive to me and those around me but it's probably cos he's a lanky guy, haven't actually seen it yet. I do hope he gets a run in team now.

Ndoye is so weak at times and you do have to remind yourself he's not Elanga when he doesn't beat his man for pace. A really poor ball when clean through 2nd half, however the last 15 he dug in and battled and was bloody good. Maybe just taking time to settle. Talking of clean through, obviously CHO missed a huge chance.

Little bits those, ultimately our first clean sheet in 20 odd games and a huge win against a proper team with European pedigree. Great start for Dyche, the next game is a big test to see if they can match that intensity away from home.

I thought NDoye was fantastic personally, had their full back on toast numerous times, I don’t think his crossing was bad, just that they defended well and were good at getting bodies back to block crosses (the options in the box at times were limited).

He also puts himself about a fair bit.

I do hope fans give him a fair crack, he’s a decent player.

He also defends well too.

Certainly much better than Elanga used to.

I dare say that he could even be used as a full back in an emergency.
Panic on the streets of Croydon, Derby, Sheffield, Leicestershire.

I wouldn't wish injury on anyone but i maintain that Zinchenko's injury is a blessing in disguise. I'm hopeful that Savona gets a bit of a run and/or even Cunha- much more excited about developing our own.

Yes a kind of agree although Zinc did look more competent defending under pragmatic tactics.

We definitely need to give Williams a rest soon and for me this is a worry. I don't think Aina is on the grass yet.

I am with you on Zinc.

I am not going to judge his defending on what we saw under Ange.

Zinc is better than that. Dyche will get him performing and defending well.

It doesn't really matter whether Aina is on the grass or not.

He is not in our 25 man PL squad and was replaced by Zinc in our Euro squad so he can't play until January. Then he might (hopefully not) be going off to AFCON.

Blimey I didn't realise he was omitted from the squad. Tough for us at full back.

Zinc has a lot of games for City and Arsenal. He must be able to defend  :Funny:

I've been wondering how Zinc has played so many games for Man City and Arsenal. He looks like a complete liability so far. I reckon Nuno may have seen his signing as being the final nail in the coffin. He can't defend!

Lets hope we've got him wrong and he can settle down & bed in now that he might have a stable system around him.
