Was he signed as a number 2?

I always thought he was signed as the direct replacement for Hennessy as 3rd choice.

Maybe you are right. Strange at his age to choose to be so far down the pecking order.

I don't want to take it off topic. Hopefully he has a good game tonight.

Anderson off and MGW on after 70 minutes.

Gunn signed and Nuno still  insisted to the club that he wanted another GK.
He obvs didn’t see Gunn as an adequate number 2

Gunn pulled off a great save near the end. The greek keeper, lets just say he made Vlach look good!

Still baffled we didn’t sign Darlow in the Summer.

Would have been an obvious choice but he remains 1st pick for Leeds so doubt he wanted to come here to sit on the bench. There were no rumours we even enquired though.

When he signed for Leeds he wasn’t guaranteed to be number one there, Perri started the first three games and is expected to get straight back in one fit.

It just would have made a shit ton of common sense with the homegrown rule and I expect he would have snapped it up at the time with us competing on four fronts and in Europe compared to a team expected to be battling relegation with a manager tipped to not last the season.

Must be quite odd when its his only experience of first team football, can’t imagine Scotland are delighted about the situation. Not saying Forest doing anything wrong just cant be great being 1st pick for country and 3rd pick for club.
Greece for their part seem to have dispensed with Flappidimos as their No1.

I'm disappointed with the way we've treated him to be honest. Signed as a number 2 and more than enough prem and championship experience to be a 2.

Have we treated him badly?

Aye it's hardly the James Trafford scenario

I suppose it depends what we agreed in the discussions. Maybe he wanted to come as a 3. I find it unlikely though.

We do have a pattern of signing people that never get used and/or loaned out and while I agree it definitely isn't a Trafford situation I do think a lot of these players sign with a different outcome expected on their part.

Read an interview with Gunn saying he expected to be used in cup games and that he might look for options in January. Not blaming him or us, his lifelong dream will be to play at the world cup, can’t expect the bloke to pass that up to sit here as a No3.

I read the same interview.

We’ve only had one domestic cup game since he’s been here, and John played well.

Surely he couldn’t have expected to feature in the European games?

No he expected to be on the bench. As a number 2. You can be patient as a number 2 but not as a 3 unless you are just taking a pay day or retirement gig.
