Couldn’t find a specific thread, but regarding a comment on tickets (maybe 200 singles still in sale for the Sunderland match on match day), I looked at Midtylland and just 2 single tickets (returns) left in the ground. Be quick!

What is scary right now is this was our easy run of fixtures.

How many points are we realistically getting from that? Amorim likely gone by then too so they might be more competent.

Come on TPT lets have this out if you want. You know I don’t buy in to the cult and will call out mistakes whoever makes them.

But what exactly did you want? To go into Europe with Jota and Sosa, Toffolo as back up LB and Taiwo as only alternative to Wood? It was pretty obvious we needed a major overhaul.

If you are critical of bring in Edu fair enough but this is big business and we brought in a highly regarded DoF to oversee a multi club structure that is becoming the norm. Stand still and I’ll see you back in the Championship.

So what exactly has EM done wrong in this instance? This is the wrong thread I know, reply on another if you wish.

I accept I can be full on here, but these aren’t new feelings. Part of me would honestly rather be in the Championship without the multi-club structure — where teenagers can still get tickets and go to games together (different argument for another day).

For me, you make more progress with evolution, not revolution at this level. That’s why last season was so successful. But this summer feels like déjà vu from Cooper’s second season: we had a winning formula and stability, then we ripped it apart by bringing in 15 players and raising expectations. You could see against Burnley, Brentford, and Luton at home that the style was being forced to change. Cooper eventually lost his job. And now we’re in the same situation with Nuno.

Yes, we absolutely needed depth and a few quality upgrades. But instead we’ve replaced players who didn’t need replacing, at the cost of stability. 14–15 new signings is simply too many.

At the start of the season I got pelters for saying Palace were better than us. They lost their best player, signed 5–6 sensible additions, and kept their tactical identity. No surprise they’re comfortably outperforming us. Same with Brentford — they lost players but didn’t panic, and the stability shows. Our owner just doesn’t want that kind of stability.

That said, the season is far from over. Palace went winless for a long spell last year and still had a great season after a strong run. We can absolutely do the same — in the league and in Europe. But I guarantee in two seasons’ time, the owner will upend the squad again, and we’ll be back in this same cycle.

Fair enough and in theory I prefer evolution to revolution too, I agree Cooper in particular suffered the same issues but there was more to his situation.

The counter argument is that Palace for example have been in the Premier League largely bumping around lower mid table since 2013, they certainly haven’t ever looked like competing for Europe and have just got there for the first time in their history on the back of a cup run.
Brighton do the same thing, have about £500m in the bank and to be hones not that much to show for it.

So do you take the roller coaster for the risk of the odd season of glory or settle for long term mediocrity?

Hahahaha interesting question. I'd say long term stability over long term rollercoaster  :Funny: but short term rollercoaster over short term stability.

I always preferred the water rapids to the missile at American adventure.

We are in big trouble again aren’t we. If we don’t get any points from them games we will likely be bottom three and a large number of points from getting out of it. Losing at home to West Ham and Sunderland could be key defeats at the end of the season.
