Interesting thread from Dale Johnson on Twitter about the Palace situation. A couple of things caught my eye:

- Our blind trust move might not have been approved by UEFA. It hadn't been scrutinised by the relevant committee (CFCB I think it is). Of course it was irrelevant anyway
- Strasbourg lost their last two games to drop out of a Champions League place. If they'd have qualified, Chelsea would've missed out by virtue of their lower league position

Some Palace fans were making out that Omabamidele got sent off and gave away a penalty to help Lyon and us.

Palace have released the most nauseating, self-pitying garbage of a statement I've ever read. No accountability, no ownership, just blame and self-pity.

The letter from CFCB to clubs about decisive influence last May makes clear that the blind trust move was a temporary measure for 2024/25 season. Not at all clear it would have succeeded for us if we had qualified for UCL.

“Such alternative shall consist in the transfer or the assignment of all its shares in a club to an
independent third party, such as a blind trust, whereby all the decision-making of the club will
solely rest under the control of the third party/trustee who will be bound by the fiduciary duty to
act in the best interest of the club exclusively. It is understood that, in such cases, the CFCB
First Chamber will oversee the set-up of the independent structure to ensure it satisfies the MCO rule.

For the avoidance of doubt, this temporary alternative is granted by the CFCB First Chamber on
an exceptional basis for the 2024/25 UEFA competitions. As such, the CFCB First Chamber will
not be bound by this alternative when assessing clubs’ compliance with the MCO rule for
participation in UEFA competitions in subsequent seasons.”

NFFC were in communication with UEFA regarding the blind trust and even asked for an extension, which was granted. So it is absolutely clear that the blind trust was the required measure in order to qualify.

It's a disgraceful statement. Parish has blamed everyone but himself and without naming us, has implied we're somehow accountable.

I'd go so far as to say it's a dangerous statement.

And their fans have bought it hook, line and sinker.

Fed up of all the controversy now but part of me would love Marinakis to sue the slimy little gimp for defamation.

The comment where he suggested that they would've been allowed it were it not for EM was 100% defamatory, and also clearly ridiculous. As if UEFA would just let it slide if it wasn't for us.

Like we were in communication with the PL over Brennan's transfer?  :Funny:

Just passing on info, which is explicit and I've not seen has been superseded. But maybe it has. As Nice/MU or Girona/MC or us/Oly are not in the same competition this year, we just don't know what the CFCB would have said about blind trusts as they haven't had to rule on it.   I just think that there's a real chance that we're two Chris Wood finishes away from bleating on like Palace fans about UEFA conspiracies etc.

The Crystal Palace statement says that it wasn't a fair hearing but CAS released a statement saying that there was no objections from all parties involved about it not being a fair hearing.

Another Parish lie that the fans of that club have lapped up.
