I think they had to.

Isn't it the draw today for the first qualifiers?

I presume Drogheda were one of those who would have been in it.

Nailed on we are either going somewhere it’s -4 and snowing in Mid August or it’ll be in 40 degree heat with a pitch resembling a sand dune. There is no in between.

I think we have a lot to worry about here TBH.

Ive never heard of any of those sides before, with the exception of Cliftonville and Larne (both NI sides). If we get drawn against any of these sides, they are gonna want to beat the mighty, 2 times European Cup winners, Nottingham Forest and will probably kick lumps out of our boys to 'prove' themselves.

Remember Alfreton from only a few years ago when that thug took Carvalho out for almost half a season?

Majority of them are lower quality than Alfreton, and 90% will be knocked out before we can get anywhere near playing them. The teams we'll be facing are (or a similar level) to the likes of Dundee, Austria Wien, Rosenborg, Başakşehir & AEK Athens. Decent clubs that would probably be top half of the Championship, but shouldnt be any more worried about them being cloggers than if we're drawn against Blackburn or Bristol in a cup.

It's a shame because I'd love to go to Malta and have another Ftira, but we're way more likely to go to Scotland or Norway

Tldr, UEFA are waiting to see if Lyon get kicked out or not, hence the lack of news. If they don't the article says they'd rather face Forest at CAS than Palace so would put Palace in. One of the main issues is there is nothing in the rules to suggest what happens if they relegate Palace ie who goes in our of them and Brondby.

Sounds like if it does go to Cas we'd probably win based on the Club Leon/Drogheda rulings.

The whole thing stinks really, ultimately Palace earned the spot. Not like they've gained much from Lyon, I mean we've gained more from them if anything! That said, I will take it if it comes, I didn't see Palacw pushing to stop us get a points deduction.

So it says in that article that Palace haven’t complied, but UEFA want to make it work, Lyon should be ok, they seem pretty confident as they have about 4/5 incomings lined up.

If Palace haven't complied then they should be kicked out.

Yeah it seemed to imply that if we went to Cas we'd probably win. Seems a bit of a joke that we have to force their hands though.
