What does that have to do with anything?
You don't need to 'understand the country' to pick players on form rather than club and reputation and play them in their best positions.
And it's not like the list of English candidates is long either. It's Eddie Howe. And that's it.

Well that was terrible. England build up play was so slow and predictable, bit like errm you know towards the end of the season. Its not acceptable though because there was some serious quality on the pitch, the application and effort was there so I have to say Im left with the manager.
Senegal were simply better all over the pitch, it was a pointless friendly for them too at the end of a long season but they clearly wanted it more.
Sorry to say the CG was flat as you could possibly imagine, sitting down in A block for the first time ever and surrounded by families. The game was officially sold out so why were there thousands of empty seats?
Any chance bots harvested all the tickets and couldn’t resell them? It was a terrible look.
Anyway bring back Gareth? Give Eddie a blank cheque?

The managers will never pick players on form look how many Chelsea players have been picked for the squad. They will pick the ones they trust. In fact he’s already decided on 15 players for the World Cup. FA should 100% go all out for Eddie Howe after we get knocked out the World Cup R016.

It’s the national team; it should be the nations players, and it should be a coach from the nation too. I disagree in principle with foreign coaches for national football.
Having said that, objectively, this guy is w%$k.
The FA should admit their mistake and fire him now, but they wont be cause they’re w%$k too, which is why they hired him in the first place.

Do you reckon squad selection should be data driven? Selected by the FA and then tuchel coaches who he receives at the camp?

It was worth watching just for Senagal. They were really very good.
Outside of the major tournaments, I couldnt care less about England, especially as this new manager wont pick MGW despite him being a stand out performer in the premier league.

It seems like Tuchel has already made his mind up, rather than giving people a fair chance on the pitch.
And not just on MGW - he brings Toney along, but plays Kane for every minute against Andorra and doesn’t use Toney. Then last night takes Kane off and plays without a centre forward before bringing Toney on after 88mins. What’s that all about?

Toney thing feels like a power play doesn't it? like everyone saying i should play you but i dont rate you. Don't know what he gets from it but its definitely from the Capello notebook of im the boss.
I'll be honest, i'd have been delighted to see Howe get the job as the top English manager but i wasnt upset at Tuchel, his teams always played decent stuff and he was usually sacked for falling out with the top brass at clubs. He is a winner.
But his selections were uninspiring. Under Southgate we regularly finished in top 4 of tournaments but we couldnt quite get over the line. Criticisms of picking favourites despite shocking form (Foden/Maguire) and being overly negative in big games were hopefully going to be addressed by a fresh faced UCL winning manager coming in.
I don't get it. Dont get me wrong i think MGW is down the pecking order as far as 10s go, England have an embarrassment of riches when you throw Eze into a mix which already has Bellingham in there and the likes of Palmer who for half a season was unstoppable. But given the injuries he was the direct swap for Eze, not this weird fluid 4 he tried to play which made no sense

I reckon like the FA and Tuchel hope they can just re-organise and polish up the last World Cup squad up a bit and get them to win a semi and a final. But with my eyes, this group of players is dead. Despite getting to the Euro finals, we were shocking in that tournament. We're regressing.
