It was stated it would be a silly thing to do cus everyone would low-ball him. Unless they mean sell the shares to the other 3. How bad finance wise would that be for palace if they took his investment out?

There is a world where they come to some kind of arrangement to punish them and kick them out of the Europa League but let them play in Conference League.
Definitely not the most likely outcome but maybe 10% chance I reckon.

Yeah but if Textor is deemed the majority shareholder then not really sure why this would matter about the other guys.

They can, Palace would qualify for conference above Brondby as they won a higher ranking competition. So Brondby would miss out.

Thought it was based on league positions of the clubs with shared ownership rather than how they qualified, which is why Palace would lose out to Lyon in the Europa League. Brondby also finished higher than Palace so it's Palace who'd miss out. That's my understanding anyway.

Think league placing only came in as both won their domestic cups.

This is what I meant, feels like the rules are pretty vague so they can probably do what they want. Punish Palace but let them stay in Europe still, I could imagine this. Textor selling doesn't feel a suitable solution, he's already missed the deadline. Even if you say the cup win was a surprise, he could've put it into a blind trust like EM straight away and chose not to. Got his on priorities above Palace by the looks of it. If they did somehow get kicked out due to this, Textor is surely out regardless. The abuse he'd receive from the supporters etc.

The more I think about it the more annoyed I'll be if Palace actually are allowed to stay in the Europa League. It's not like the deadline wasn't known. Yeah there was no guarantee this scenario would unfold but that was the same for us and we did what we had to.
I guess it'll all come down to the fine detail of what UEFA's rules are and how stringently they decide to enforce them, or not. |
