It would depend on where Chelsea finish. If they beat us but still only finish 6th (if that's possible) and then beat Betis we'd be in the Europa. But that would need a massive Villa win to overtake their goal difference.

We just must not lose.

That scenario isn’t realistically possible. 

HOWEVER, it is entirely possible that we draw with Chelsea and villa win at Old Trafford. 
That would leave Chelsea in 6th and us in 7th assuming Newcastle don’t lose.

If Chelsea then win the Conference AND you are correct that the Conference pass to the Europa league trumps their entry into that competition by finishing in 6th- and I’m not convinced that’s the case - then a draw might still be enough for us to get into the Europa.

That’s a very real possible scenario so I’d love to know if it’s right.

I don’t think that’s correct. Draw and Villa lose is our only pathway to 6th and Europa. We can draw and finish 7th we only get Europa if Chelsea are 6th. If they win conference they get another Europa spot but if they get CL by finishing 5th that Europa spot is given up, it doesn’t get passed down to another english club.

If Villa win and we draw with Chelsea then they swap places and Chelsea finish 6th above us (assuming Newcastle don’t lose to Everton).

The question is- in that scenario, if Chelsea win the conference, do they enter the Europa by virtue of that win or because they are in 6th place? Which takes preference under the rules? Obviously we would hope it’s through the cup win as we would benefit by getting into the Europa cup too.
